Robert Jennings smiled and said, “I told you. I wanted to talk to you, Tinkerbell.”
Bette’s face was furrowed in confusion. “But..you.you died.”
“Oh, that. Well, yes I did pass away. But, don’t worry about that. I like were I am and when you get here, you’ll realize how connected this place is to the world of the living. You’ll understand a lot of things.”
“Can you tell me what it’s like?”, she asked.
“Not yet, Tinkerbell. Not yet. But one day, you’ll experience it for yourself. We all have to go this road. But don’t be afraid. Don’t fear.”
Bette nodded. “Okay.”
Robert smiled at this response and continued on. “I heard you, Tinkerbell. I heard every word.”
“You heard me?”, she asked.
“At the hospital. I heard every word. I knew you didn’t mean to turn away from us. I knew how difficult things were for you at home. I understood you, Sweetheart.”
Tears filled her eyes and Bette replied, “It’s nice to be understood, Grandpa.”
“I know it is. And I know you are in a world of hurt, and fear, and confusion right now. I saw how things went with your parents. I know how scared you are about them finding out about Tina.”
“So, you know about Tina?”
“You told me. And you were right. I love you regardless. I know your heart, Bette. I just want you to be happy. You’ve been through enough.”
Bette wiped at the tears that had begun to trickle down her cheeks. “Thanks, Grandpa.”
“No need to thank me. I’m so proud of you. I’m proud of how you’ve handled yourself with everything so far. But I came to tell you, you’re going to face some difficulties ahead. Things will get really hard, but I want you to remember one thing: Every season will pass. Every season will eventually pass away and just as Summer fades to Fall and Winter, so does Spring bounce back and breathe life and new beginnings.”
Bette was confused by her grandfather’s crypticness, but she repeated the phrase out loud. “Every season will pass.”

Dun,Dun,Dun, I think the shit is about to hit the fan. That is what grandpa was trying to warn Bette about. I will bet a million, no make that a billion dollars that someones parents are about to find out about their little girls sexuality in the next few chapters.
