The Roommates – 2nd Dimension: Chapter 62
"Antoine?" asked Tina.
"My husband."
Tina nodded. For some reason, she’d assumed Courtney didn’t really have a father. She’d assumed that Beverly wasn’t married.
"Thank you so much for coming down here. I can’t tell you how much it means. And I’m sorry again, for everything I put you through."
Tina gave a soft smile. "No problem. I’m glad I could help. I’ve missed Courtney a lot. I never knew I was so important to her."
"She adores you. You gave her your undivided attention. She doesn’t get a lot of that. I work so many hours. It’s hard, you know?"
"Where do you work?"
"Nursing home down the way. I’m a nurse’s aide. It’s hard but I’m getting good training. I’m in school, too. Studying to be a nurse."
Tina smiled. "That’s good."
"Yeah. I need to change our life. I’m not that much older than you. I had Courtney when I was 15."
Tina’s eyes opened wide. "So you’re only about what…22?"
"That’s right."
"You grew up fast," Tina replied.
"I did. But I brought it on myself. My Daddy is a preacher. Started his own church. He and my mother raised me right. I just…was young and dumb. I met Antoine and thought I was grown. The next thing I knew, I was pregnant and thrown out of the house.
"He threw you out?"
"Sure did. With only the clothes on my back. I embarrassed him. Brought shame on him. He thought I was doing everything the way a preacher’s daughter should. He was the last to find out about me being pregnant. He didn’t even know Antoine. He was a boy I’d met at school. My grandmama took me in. This was her house. But she passed away a few years ago and left it to me."
"Is your family still mad at you?" asked Tina.
"They are. Daddy hasn’t spoken to me since. My mother tries. But she’s under him so much she doesn’t know how to be her own woman. She’ll bring stuff by for Courtney, but they don’t really know her. She spends some time with Antoine’s family, but he don’t have much family. Just a sister and a cousin that’s like a brother to him."

You are a wonderful, wonderful writer. Can we now please have a tender B&T moment please?
Need an apology from Tina and forgiveness from Bette!!! Then, a little lovin’!
Thanks for the update! Still hoping for a Sydney & Bette reunion! Post soon if they whisper like…now! lol
I know one thing Tina should NOT do to make it up to Bette. She shouldn’t sing “Chocolate Rain.” Well, maybe if she sings it while naked and sexy on Bette’s bed it will work.
Thanks for writing it, MTS. And imo, your Tina doesn’t need to apologise – she left Bette that message: ‘Bette. Hey Babe. Please don’t be upset with me. I want so much to be there right now, but an emergency just came up. It’s Courtney. Her mom just called me and I really need to go..’ – ‘Her’ kid was hurt, molested, and Bette would remember how much that little girl meant to Tina. And your Bette isn’t an insensitive clod: she’d know that kids in pain take precedence, especially in a case like this. – “Tina was just the elixir Courtney’s tongue needed and the little girl finally opened up and told her former tutor about the hell she’d endured. Beverly phoned the detective who came to the house and took her statement…”All very sad. So why would Bette think a student election outcome was more important than the mental health of a child? (After all, a kid like that, forced by her mother to keep being babysat by her molester, would still be carrying psychological scars long after a schooltime election was forgotten.)
Gosh!! I am so glad they are still whispering. Was so ready for Bette and Tina to talk, but I definitely enjoyed this chapter between Tina and Courtney’s mother. Loved that Tina finally admitted her true feelings. Looking forward to see how Tina makes it up to Bette! PPS!!!
This is well written and interesting!
Man, I am so much like Tina. Running away from my true self, just wanting to alone without the pressure from the outside world. I hope that Bette can understand Tina’s fear, and that Tina can understand Bette’s need to be the vice president of the group.
wow another amazing chapeter to an awesome story thanks for sharing pps
Your writing is really awesome, I lovce it!
Hey MTS, Thank you for another fine and thought provoking chapter. I fully believe that when you get people talking that all the differentness disapates and understanding and acceptance flourish. Suddenly we find the common ground you share. Good to see that Beverly was able to admit her ignorance after Tina’s help and concern for Courtney. I do think that Tina did the rgith thing as a child was suffering and needs reassurance straight away, evry minute let alone hour counts. Now I can’t wait to see how Tina wins back Bette and faces the reality of her sexual preference. Bring it on. Again it is your talent that makes this so wonderful to read. Thank you, Your Loyal Fan.
looking 4ward to T making it up to B…next chappie???Lmao
I’m glad Tina was able to help Courtney. Tina really needs to make it up to Bette and with Bev’s help I’m sure she will this is a no Sydney zone so please let T come to grips with who she is and stop hiding. She should just love Bette with all her heart and take care of everything else as it comes. PPS
T will make it right and Bette no matter how hurt, will always forgive Tina. However, Tina needs to become more comfortable with who she is and stop trying to hide out. There are too many women out there will to take her place, with Sydney being on the top of the list. Thanks for the post.
tina really does need to have a long talk with herself and get it together. i do know how hard that is being raised the way i was and just coming out at the tender age of 49 with 4 kids. but… i cant believe the happiness and freedom i now feel. bette, hopefully will be patient. thanks.
I’m really happy you have continued this story. I didn’t know until tonight and I read every chapter – great job.Looking forward to the rest.
That was awesome!
