The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 26

Alice’s words were making her realize that there were gaps she couldn’t fill. Bette looked up at her friend.

    “You’re right. I don’t know as much as I should I guess – – – I guess I never even thought about it.”

“Bette, the things you’re going through with Sidney are tough. And it’s made it easy to run to Tina for comfort. I’m not saying that Tina’s bad news. I’m sure she’s a wonderful person. But I’m your best friend. It’s my job to look out for your blind spots. Tina is a blind spot for you. I just want you to be careful. Whether you want to admit it or not, you’re vulnerable right now.”

Bette gritted her teeth, feeling her ire begin to spark. Yet she knew Alice was right. She was vulnerable.

The brunette inhaled deeply and then exhaled in a long, slow breath. “Thank you. I know you have my back, Alice.”

    “I always will.”

Bette nodded to herself. “I’ll be more careful. I guess us taking a break right now is a really good thing. It will give me a chance to get some perspective.”

“I agree. But there’s something else I want to talk to you about.”

Bette leaned back against the back of the sofa. “Okay. There’s more?”

    “Don’t look like that.”

    “Look like what?”

“Like I’m getting ready to give you an enema or something.”

Bette couldn’t help but smile. “Is that how I look?”

    “Sorta.”

    “Well, what is it?”

Alice sat back down beside her friend. “It’s about that Shane salon place,” she said quietly.

    “What about it?”

“I think that’s where Sidney gets her drugs.”

Bette scoffed. “What? It’s just a regular salon. I get my hair done there. I had my nails done and a wax. There’s nothing fake about it.”

Alice stretched her neck and replied, “Let me rephrase. I KNOW that’s where Sidney got her last batch of drugs.”

Bette eyed her curiously. “And how do you know this?”

“When we went over to Sidney’s, there was a container she had. A shampoo container. The bottom was a false-bottom. That’s what Tasha called it. I guess the top half of the bottle had shampoo. But the bottom container held drugs. There were joints, pills, vials of shit. I’m guessing coke or heroin.”

    1. Thank you for chapter!

Alice tell Bette a few right thing about Tina, but i wish that she put her energy on her relationship and let Bette be mature person.
Bette realy needs to grow up and start thinking her own head and not always listen Alice.
Shane drugdealer – i like this twist. But Tina attended hairdressing salon too – she also addict? No it coldn’t be, right?

    2. As much as Alice is right about Bette not knowing enough about Tina, I still hope that Bette will follow her heart and instincts and keep her trust in Tina. Don’t let Alice put doubts in her mind, don’t let Bette end it with Tina. She should remember that in her former life (like the sound of that ;-)) she and Tina were always at their best when they were near each other and talked about their fears and problems. Together they would find a way to handle every obstacle.

Tina is not malicious but insecure. It will be hard for Bette to learn that T is married. But she should give Tina the chance to open up, to talk about her life, about her manipulative and narrow-minded family and about her deep feelings for Bette. It’s all new for Tina but hopefully she’ll take a first step and divorces Henry before Bette even learns about the marriage. She should do it for herself, she deserves to live her life how she wants to not how others expect her to.

Thanks for posting, looking forward to more.
