The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 26

Bette’s mind was racing, thinking back to her time at the salon. She hunted through her memories for any indication that something had been off during her last visit.

And then she remembered Sidney stopping by the gallery and her asking Bette specifically about the shampoo. Bette had offered to buy her a brand new bottle, but Sidney had insisted on using the shampoo that Shane had already given to Bette.

“Son of a bitch,” Bette said quietly.

    “You believe me?” asked Alice.

“Of course I do. But Alice…?” Bette said.

    “What?”

“Shane. She gave me a bottle of shampoo when I was there. She told me it was on the house. She gave it to me and I took it home. I never noticed anything strange about the weight.”

Alice shrugged. “Well, maybe that was a real bottle. Maybe it wasn’t one of the drug containers.”

Bette shook her head. “No. It had to have been. Sidney came by here last week. She insisted on getting that exact bottle from the house. Hell, Shane even told me that if I needed anything to let her know. That her salon even makes house calls.”

“What are you thinking?” asked Alice.

Bette grew angry, her face flushing red with fury. “What the fuck?!” she said, rising to her feet. “Shane gave me a bottle full of drugs. I drove home with that bottle. I had that bottle in my house. In my shower. I even used it – – -,” she cut herself off. She’d used it to shampoo Tina’s hair during the shower they shared.

“Alice, what if I had been stopped by the police? Anything could have happened. I could be in jail right now. How could Sidney set me up like that?”

    “Oh my God, Bette.”

“This was happening right under my nose. How could I be so blind?” asked Bette.

“You weren’t blind. The whole process was designed to be hidden. You weren’t supposed to know.”

Bette couldn’t get to Sidney. At least not right now. So all of Bette’s rage was focused on Shane. Then she thought about Tina. Did Tina know? Was Tina a customer? Who were the real customers and who were the drug buyers? Was her meeting with Tina really not random? What did she know and what didn’t she know?

    1. Thank you for chapter!

Alice tell Bette a few right thing about Tina, but i wish that she put her energy on her relationship and let Bette be mature person.
Bette realy needs to grow up and start thinking her own head and not always listen Alice.
Shane drugdealer – i like this twist. But Tina attended hairdressing salon too – she also addict? No it coldn’t be, right?

    2. As much as Alice is right about Bette not knowing enough about Tina, I still hope that Bette will follow her heart and instincts and keep her trust in Tina. Don’t let Alice put doubts in her mind, don’t let Bette end it with Tina. She should remember that in her former life (like the sound of that ;-)) she and Tina were always at their best when they were near each other and talked about their fears and problems. Together they would find a way to handle every obstacle.

Tina is not malicious but insecure. It will be hard for Bette to learn that T is married. But she should give Tina the chance to open up, to talk about her life, about her manipulative and narrow-minded family and about her deep feelings for Bette. It’s all new for Tina but hopefully she’ll take a first step and divorces Henry before Bette even learns about the marriage. She should do it for herself, she deserves to live her life how she wants to not how others expect her to.

Thanks for posting, looking forward to more.
