The Roommates – Fast Forward to 2019: Chapter 5

Bette nodded. “You’re right. I’ve never had one.”

Dana sat back down. “Your mind is brilliant, Bette. But even in its brilliance, it’s not going to create a dream sequence in which you sit down and take a shit every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. No one would ever dream that. This is real.”

Bette sat there, her mind racing, its algorithms assessing the strength of Dana’s argument. When the computations stopped, a slow smile spread across her face. “So, I really did see Tina?”

Dana jumped up. “Yes! You really did see Tina.”

The spacetime traveler looked up at her friend. “Dana, I saw Tina,” she said.

    “I know. I’m so excited!”

Bette jumped up, her eyes shining with happiness. “I met Tina!!”

When she jumped, her left ankle started a quiet protest and she quickly sat back down. “Dana is this like a turning point. Like in the movies. The person learns something or does something and then they go back to their real life?”

Dana shook her head. “No, Bette. There will come a time when you’ll find out why this happened. I know that time will come. I don’t know the reason, but I do know you’ll find out. But this isn’t some temporary lesson-learning bullshit. This is real. This IS your real life.”

Bette thought on that and chewed at her lip. Then she smiled brightly. “I saw Tina.”

    “You did see Tina.”

“Now I just have to work on seeing her again,” said Bette.

Talking with Dana had relaxed her. Together they pulled out photo albums, looking back at Bette’s past. There were photos from college. Photos of her family; old pictures of her, Melvin, and her mother. Old pictures of Kit and many photos of a boy who she assumed was Kit’s son. There were photos of her wedding to Sidney. It was on a beach. They had both worn casual white dresses. They looked happy. There was a photo with Bette, Sidney, Alice, and Dana.

“It was just the four of us. You guys didn’t want to tell anyone else. You didn’t want to risk any negativity. We were our own family,” Dana volunteered.

    1. Now, I’m hooked into this story….Bette has yet to realize that getting Tina back is going to take more than a few phone calls. They are both into rather complex lives which will need to be unraveled before they can be together as they were in the previous lives I wonder what Alice thinks of this new Bette?.

    2. Thank you for the new update!

So, Bette has some her memories from this reality back, it’s good. But what strange that she still didn’t ask herself why Tina has different second name.

      Ok, waiting for the next!

    3. Hi MTS:

Wonderful chapter, more information for Bette’s brain, and I see that Tina is very eager to talk and interact with Bette, Maybe she is also the woman of her dreams.

So sad that Dana would, eventually, be gone.

Bette is definitely changing and adapting to her new life, and now with Tina at her side, she may find out why they change into a parallel reality.

Thank you for the chapter, and pps.

    4. Very interesting way to prove that Bette was not dreaming…LOL. Nice chapter, hopefully T + B can speak on the phone undisturbed – meaning, maybe there is no more Eric or anyone to distract Tina from the call.

    5. The whole Bette and Dana conversation about shitting in your dreams had me in stitches. I means tears rolling down my cheeks laughing. This chapter was fun to watch ultra Type A not have a control at all, watching her get irritated and frustrated ready to flop down to die from her mindfuck.

      Brilliant!
