    B&T Fiction Set in College.””You’re a very pretty girl, Bette. But I want your appearance to evoke ‘astonishing’ from every one that walks through those doors.”

    Bette nodded. “Understood.”

    The tall red-head stood up and Bette followed suit. “Very well then, I’ll see you here in a week and I fully expect you to evoke ‘astonishing’. Understood?”

    “Understood.”

    Bette departed the office and the museum and as soon as he left the building it was like someone hit the fast-forward button on her life. She was hungry for this job. Eager to show her abilities and afraid to fail. Valerie was a woman who could do wonders for Bette’s future and Bette wanted to give the older woman no reason to tarnish her as-yet undefined reputation.

    Bette spent time every day that week in the museum. She printed out floor plans and studied them intensely. She spent several late nights in the coffee shop with Richard, him working on his writing and she studying hard for the greatest experience of her life. She and Janice spent an insane amount of time buying tailored suits and shoes, getting manicures, and sitting in stylist’s chairs.

    It was truly a unique bonding experience for mother and daughter and by the time Sunday night arrived, Bette Porter was honed and perfected and ready to “Evoke Astonishing”.

     

     

    In the remainder of the week spent at home, Tina learned how to loosen up and enjoy her parents. She ran with her father every day and spent time talking to her mother, becoming reacquainted with the woman she had written off. Bette was busy cramming for The Met and Bette’s busyness forced Tina to interact with Tracy & Stephen.

    The Kennards even spent one night eating homemade ice cream sundaes for dinner and watching a marathon of Freddy Krueger movies until their bellies were full and their eyes were droopy.

    Tina had a lot of fun and the week passed quickly. And before she knew it, she was standing on the curb in front of her apartment for the summer, with Dana on her left and Alice on her right, waving good-bye to her parents. Tina found herself suddenly sad at their absence. Her eyes filled with tears she didn’t want to shed and Dana rubbed her back.

    “It’s okay, Tina. You’ll see them again soon.”

    Tina nodded, wiping quickly at the tears that had betrayed her wishes and come trickling from her eyes.

    1. Excellent update, MTS! Valerie was very honest with Bette about what was required to run a Art Museum and/or Gallery. That experience will always stay with her. A demanding and difficult person, can be the best teacher one can have in order to become more professional. We are glad that Tina could come to terms with her family. However, we doubt that their parents have grown enough to accept and understand T’s sexuality. Tina has always been too scared to tell their parents, because of old prejudices running at home.     3. Hey MTS, I jumped into the first chapter of Pride & Prejudice and realized it was a continuation of Roommates and Roommates 2, so I went back and read all of the previous stories and am now caught up. I really like this series of stories and am looking forward to your upcoming posts. jinjur

    4. The “Prima Donna” is gonna run Bette around in circles. I can’t wait to read about their adventures in interning. But most of all I can’t wait until Bette goes to visit Tina. :)

    5. I hope that Bette survives the Met and that Tina survives the summer without her love. I am not a drama person so I hope that the summer is pretty painless.

    7. Good to see that Tina chilled abit and gave her parents (and herself) to enjoy her homecoming. So I’m guessing this art lady will be the model for the power lesbian that Ms. Porter will one day become. Thanks for another great update MTS. Keep the post coming….How long before Bette and Tina are in the same time zone again?

    10. HEY MTS, Sweet to see Tina reconnect with her parents agaion. I think she needs to tell them the truth and unburdon herself. They love her and I am sure it will be a shock to them initially, Tina is still their child and they will do all htat they can to protect and love her. Seeing the difference that Bette has made it her life can only convince them of the love between these gals. How it has completed them. As for Bette, she has a tough challenge in working with the crazy prima donna fro the Met. I do think this will be the making of her professionally. It is strange to think of Bette as anything other than “astounding”. Okay a little polish might be needed to reveal her sparkle and cute to have Bette and her Mom bonding over the femimine pursuits of shopping and pampering. The best bit was Bette and Tina’s phoen conversation which only increased their need to be in each other’s arms once more and enjoy the physicality of their realtionship.     11. they r so sweet; but what trouble is Al gonna cause? Is she gonna date Eric? thereby letting him in on T’s secret life then he’ll spring her to her parents so ruining T’s chance of an education when her parents cut her off??? Damn it Alice, get a brain not stoned!!! pps
