    The Secret Santa—Chapter 1

”Is there any way I can find out where the deposit came from?” I ask her and she nods.

”You can talk to our Manager Jerry Sims but he won’t be in until Monday” She answers.

I quickly nod and thank her and shakily make my way back to my car. I open the door and see an envelope stuck underneath my windshield wiper. I sigh and retrieve the envelope as I get in my car and shut the door. No doubt this is from my Secret Santa as it just has my name on it. I open it and take the letter out and began to read.

    Good Morning Tina!

I trust you have now found out that your first gift from me was paying up your lease..And judging by the faint look on your face you are sporting right now you have found out about my second gift to you. I have deposited $25,000 into your account for you to not have to work any longer in that supermarket you have been chained to for the last five years. It breaks my heart to see you struggling when you are worthy and deserve so much more. You were a brilliant executive producer and you gave up your job to devote yourself totally to Bette and to have a child with her. Your miscarriage was devastating but you have since succeeded. I know everything Tina. I know about you being pregnant when you left Bette. Oh don’t worry. She will not hear anything about that from me. It’s not my place to tell.

As I said in my previous letter, I have wonderful plans for you and Angelica. You two are going on a little holiday adventure that will be fun and memorable. I will give Angelica the Christmas of her life while I give you a chance to enjoy your daughter’s laugh and smile as we go along.

Tina? You no longer have to work. I want you to turn in your notice to Bridgette when you pick up Angelica and go home and pack enough warm clothes for two weeks. Everything has been paid for and taken care of as far as your adventure and all your bills have been paid in advance for two months. I have planned all year for this moment. I mean I am your Secret Santa after all.

Don’t make that face. I’m not some lunatic sending you on a wild goose chase or telling you to up and quit your job for no reason. Trust me Tina. I will not lead you astray.

So go get your daughter and get ready for an adventure that will change both of your lives. Don’t worry about what will come next. I have a limo waiting outside your apartment building when you and Angelica are packed and ready to go. You will find out your destination when you get into the limo. Until next time.

    You Secret Santa

I fold the letter back and I am still in too much shock to think rationally and feel myself surrendering to the wishes of this Secret Santa that obviously knows everything about me and my life. They say to trust them and after they have paid up my lease and fattened my bank account, I’m off to quit my job. I’m must be totally insane but something tells me to trust this person. I sigh and start my car to go get Angie, turn in my notice to Bridgette, then go home and pack.

”I need my head examined for going along with this” I mumble as I pull out onto the street not knowing what is in store for Angie and me.

    1. Pie, what a sweet, well-written start. I’ve only been around LesFan for a year or two, so I never had the privilege of reading your earlier works. I’m so glad you’ve come back and are sharing your wonderful talent with us. So looking forward to reading everything you throw at us.

    2. Dear Pie,

      The day gets better.
As usual you can make me laugh one minute and cry the next and you did it again. Christmas Carol is my favourite Dickens story and I look forward to the next post.
