”You are in first class Ms. Porter but due to the restrictions placed on your license we will not be serving you any alcohol on your flight” She says and I look at her perplexed.

”What do you mean restrictions?” I ask taking my license out and flipping it over and sure enough there was a special restriction placed there that I not be allowed to buy or consume alcohol at any public or private entity until after I complete my driving course.

”You have got to be fucking kidding me” I mutter under my breath as I put my license back into my purse and look up at the ticket agent who is smiling at me. I shake my head and sigh.

”Well? At least when I find this Secret Santa idiot and beat the shit out of them I will be sober when I do it” I say as she laughs at me as I turn to away from the counter.

”Enjoy your flight Ms. Porter” She says as I make my way to the gate to wait for my flight.

That was hard. Turning in my notice to Bridgette. She has been such a good friend to me. She reminds me a lot of Alice. Well she isn’t nearly as outspoken as Alice but she is steadfastly loyal and would do anything in the world for you. I do miss Alice and the rest of the gang but I just can’t go back there. I’m not ready to face Bette. She probably has moved on with another woman by now. Five years is a long time. Bette wouldn’t stay single for long. I hope she is happy and whoever she is with she will remain faithful to. I guess I failed to keep her happy.

I spent all of these years blaming myself for Bette’s affair. After my miscarriage, we totally broke down in the communication department. I know we tried to do the group therapy thing with Dan Foxworthy and I thought it helped but I have always wondered what I did to make her turn her attention to another woman. I guess if I would have had the guts to stick around I could have found out. Well it doesn’t matter now. I can’t dwell on it any longer.
