“Tina,” Bette started, her cheeks and legs tingling as she reached out and took Tina’s hands in hers.
Angelica watched them with a big smile.
“I love so many things about you …”
Tina started to tear up, sensing exactly what was going on, even as surprising as it was. She looked into Bette’s eyes, trying to be strong.
“I love the way you laugh … the way you keep so much to yourself, and yet tell it to me with your eyes … I love that you send me texts all day that just say I love you because you can’t figure out how to text anything else … and I love that when I’m with you … I’m someone better than I ever thought was possible …” Bette continued, clearing her throat when her voice got a little shaky. She pushed her shoulders back again and looked into Tina’s eyes, rubbing her thumbs over Tina’s hands. “I’ve never been as happy as when I’m with you.”
“Me too,” Tina interrupted, trying to blink her tears away. She nodded along with Bette, each of them holding hands.
“And … I just have something that I have to ask you.”
A little sound emanated from the back of Tina’s throat, but she swallowed it back, surprised and excited for what Bette would say.
“But first! First … I just wanna say that I will spend the rest of my life loving you. No matter what you answer.”
Angelica clapped quietly in the corner as Bette reached onto the couch for her old guitar, holding it close and resting her right arm over it. When she looked up at Tina’s beautiful, emotional expression, she started strumming.
Tina brought both hands up to her face as she listened to the talented fingers strumming a melody for her. She didn’t recognize it, but it sounded absolutely beautiful. And when Bette started to sing, Tina melted.

To feel like I’ve had long enough with you …”
“Oh my god,” Tina whispered, looking back to her daughter in awe, and then back to Bette. To keep her lip from trembling, she placed one hand fully over her mouth, watching Bette’s genuine smile as she continued on.

I love this story so much! I really hope it doesn’t just end after the wedding. The characters are so complex and I feel like we’ve gotten see their personalities revealed in such detail that it would be great to see some their adventures as a new family.
