“Forget the world now, we won’t let them see …
But there’s one thing left to do …”
I do, Tina thought as she shook her head happily to the words that blanketed over her. They were all so true – the way she felt, too.
“Now that the weight has lifted …
And love has surely shifted my way …
Marry me …
Today and every day.”
Tina wanted to cry, but she was too busy memorizing every word and every glance and every note. Her eyes were teary, but she paid no mind to that. She stared straight ahead at Bette, shaky.
“Marry me …
If I ever get the nerve to sing these words aloud to you …
Say you will …
Say you will …
Marry me.”
Angelica ran over as Bette finished her shorter, slightly different version of the song, holding onto Bette’s side as the guitar was set down again.
Tina wiped away the tears that were falling at the sight. Angelica seemed so happy, too, smiling with Bette’s arms draped over her smaller shoulders, both of them looking up to her. With a kiss to the top of Angelica’s head, Bette guided the girl to the side so she could get down on one knee, reaching into her pocket. “Tina Kennard …” She took out the little box, opening it up to Tina with love in her eyes. “Will you marry me?”
Dropping her hands to her chest and letting out a strong breath, Tina immediately nodded. She was so surprised and thrilled that she could hardly speak, but finally, she croaked out “Yes! … Yes, yes.”
She watched as Bette took the ring out and slipped it onto her finger. And Tina reached out for Bette’s hands, and lifted her up to her feet, putting her hands on the sides of her love’s face. She pulled her in for a kiss, not caring who was where, or when or how. She kissed Bette, gently lacing her arms over Bette’s shoulders, her hands slowly closing over her own arms to bring her closer. She couldn’t seem to be close enough, whispering to Bette all the while: “Yes … yes … yes …”
Angelica texted her Aunt Victoria and Shane, beaming with happiness of her own. They would be a family together. She never thought the day would really come when everything would slip into place so effortlessly, but there it was, and all she could do was smile uncontrollably – her mom was getting married to a wonderful person who cared a great deal about her, too.

I love this story so much! I really hope it doesn’t just end after the wedding. The characters are so complex and I feel like we’ve gotten see their personalities revealed in such detail that it would be great to see some their adventures as a new family.
