The Shipwreck

It means Peace! Yes, that woman was talking Khmer. She wasn’t really a primitive as the outfit she was in suggested. And the most important thing is that she was there to make no harm. The little expectations of finding any human being on that island, suddenly grew. I was dying to go and tell everything to my father, but I had the strange decision not to mention it. Not just yet, at least. I felt like protecting her. But I needed to know more, I wanted to see her again. Then something occurred to my mind: she didn’t have the look that most of the people have in Southeast Asia. It looked like she came from another country. I closed my eyes and tried to recollect all her features, damn she was beautiful. A Mother Nature. I shook the last thoughts out of my mind; a woman was not supposed to think such things. Or yes?
A knock on the tent brought me to reality, it was my dad, carrying a basket of fruit. “Honey, you must eat something”
The rumbling sound coming from my stomach was the response, making me blush, earning a smile from the little old man that loved me so much.
Regaining some strength from eating, I felt myself becoming more excited at the thought of learning more about the previous encounter. Laying on my back I rolled the little rock between my hands. I could see there was something carved on it: it was a series of symbol, just like the ones I read on the entrance of the temple: សន្តិភាព. Santiphap, of course. Peace. She offered me a symbol of peace. I wonder what she was doing on that island, and if she was alone.
The day after, my father and Henry, with Aaron’s help, decided to continue patrolling the island to see if that day could be as lucky as the first one. On the other hand, I was trying to find a way to sneak out secretly, unbeknownst to Eric and Josh. The two of them kept walking back and forth outside my tent. The second I was out to breath some air, there they were, glued to me. I went close to the shore, and there they were. I walked a little, just to stretch a little, and there they were.

Ok, now we know what Bette tried to say earlier. But what she trying to remember – maybe she isn’t from this island?
Thank you and waiting for the net part!
We’ll find out soon! :)
Thank you

Hi Bette0Porter,
I don’t care how short the chapters are as long you try to post regularly!!!
Love the story already!!!
Tina trying to protect Bette and visa versa! If the others found out about Bette it will not be good. Let Tina try to learn more about Bette. Maybe she can talk with her father in private.
I wonder how Bette got to this unknown island? She is not from this area. And are there more people on this island?
Ok, more than enough questions that i am sure you will answer in time!
Looking forward to the next chapter!
You all will know what’s Bette’s story very soon :D
Thank you for your comment!

Hi Bette0Porter;
Amazing chapter. As Tina said, it looks like Bette is not from around here, and as you showed in the last part, she has forgotten many things, maybe she is from somewhere else.
It’s for the best that Tina keeps Bette existence in secret because those jerks may frighten her, and Bette could react badly.
Maybe someone else is on the island; it’s hard to believe that Bette had survived alone there.
I woke up at 2:00 am in the morning, because of the notification of your story, I started reading, but as I had to go to work early, I fell asleep and start dreaming (lol) of a bunch of people attacking the losers (Henry, Eric, Josh, and Aaron) while Bette was protecting Tina and her father, OMG ????.
Anyway, very nice story, I hope to read more of your posts soon.
Thanks.
