Lost & Found in the Rain
Recap…
Bette walks into her room, closing the door quietly behind her. She leans against it for a moment, letting out a deep breath. Alice is nowhere to be seen, likely out with Shane and the others. The room is quiet, and the only light comes from the desk lamp she left on.
She sits on her bed, kicking off her boots and leaning back against the pillows. Her mind is racing, replaying the night over and over the way Tina laughed, the warmth in her eyes, the way her hand fit perfectly in Bette’s as they danced.
For the first time in a long while, Bette feels something she can’t quite put into words. It’s not just attraction it’s deeper, more meaningful. She runs a hand through her hair, letting out a soft chuckle.
Bette: (to herself) You’re in trouble, Porter.
She glances at her phone, tempted to text Tina, but decides against it. Instead, she sets an alarm for the morning, eager for their breakfast date. As she finally settles into bed, a rare sense of contentment washes over her. With Tina on her mind, she drifts off to sleep, a small smile lingering on her lips.
Chapter 3:
A bustling breakfast cafe just off campus, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon filling the air. Bette stands outside, leaning casually against the doorframe, dressed in a smart, dark jacket over a simple t-shirt and jeans. She checks her watch and looks up just as Tina appears down the street, her hair glowing in the morning sunlight. She’s wearing a casual, flowy top and jeans, looking effortlessly radiant.
Bette straightens, her smile spreading as Tina approaches.
Bette: Right on time. Impressive.
Tina: (grinning) You’d better have coffee ready for me after last night. That jazz club wiped me out.
Bette: (laughing) Coffee’s on me. Let’s go.
They head inside and grab a small table by the window, the morning light streaming in. Bette orders them both coffees, along with pancakes for Tina and an omelet for herself.
Tina: This place is cute. Do you come here often?
Bette: Only when I want to impress someone.
Tina: (playfully) So, what is this? Date number two?
Bette: (smirking) You keeping count already?

I loved how the scene played out, mostly because they were so honest with each other and actually talked things out rather than running away. Tina needs to make her own decisions and trust Bette rather than being influenced by friends. Bette needs to be honest with herself and knowing her past reputation should not prevent her from growing and loving respectfully. We know they made it to a certain point then things fell apart. I look forward to you filling in the years between when they met in college and how they ended up in divorce court. Great writing style. Thank you for sharing this story!
I really appreciate your thoughtful insight, It’s indeed a significant moment for Tina to trust her heart and for Bette to demonstrate her commitment to change. The journey from where they began to where they are now is rich with history and emotion, and it’s thrilling to delve into that narrative. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts.
Honest and raw emotions. Great update!
There’s still so much to unfold, and I’m excited to take you along for the journey. Appreciate your support
Loved the scene in the rain! They both have real, understandable emotions. Though I could kill Helena, lol. Please continue this story
The rain wasn’t just a backdrop it was a storm brewing between them, mirroring every unspoken fear, every desperate hope. They weren’t just standing in the downpour; they were drowning in their emotions, clinging to each other like lifelines. And Helena? She struck the match, but Bette and Tina were always going to be the wildfire. There’s so much more to unfold, and I promise, the intensity is far from over.
Oh geez, most definitely continue with this story. I like how skeptical Tina is of Bette from all the horror stories told to her about how Bette loves them then leaves them with no commitments. Please hurry with new chapters. Now that they are both soaked from the rain will they go to Tina’s room, Bette’s room or each to 5heir own rooms to change clothes and get dry.
The rain wasn’t just a setting it was a force, relentless and unforgiving, much like the emotions crashing between them. Bette, for so long, had been untouchable, slipping through hearts like sand, never staying long enough to leave a mark that mattered. But Tina? She was different. She wasn’t just another fleeting moment. And that terrified both of them.
Tina had every reason to hesitate. The stories of Bette’s past weren’t just whispers they were warnings. Bette was the storm people admired from a distance, never daring to step too close, because those who did never left unscathed. And yet, here they were, soaked and breathless, standing at the edge of something dangerous, something real. There’s still so much more to unravel and I’m excited to take you along for the journey. Appreciate your support.
