The Thawing of the Ice – Chapter One
Tina’s head whipped around, her golden tresses flying as she moved. "What are you doing in here?" she hissed, her tone angry but her voice hushed so as not to scare Angelica.
Angelica now had a direct line of sight to Mama B and her eyes lit up as she kicked her tiny feet. "Mama! Mama!" she chanted.
"Hi Boo," Bette said, waving softly at her daughter, wanting desperately to hold the little one in her arms.
Tina moved to stand in front of Angelica. "Get out of here, Bette. I don’t want you in here. I want you gone.”
Bette wiped at her weeping eyes and replied, "I just wanted to say goodbye. That’s all. Just wanted to say goodbye."
Angelica was still calling for her in the background and after a few glances back and forth between her only child and her former love, Tina finally relented. She sighed, ran a hand through her tussled locks and replied, "Fine. Hurry up."
Bette wasted no time. She rushed around and pulled Angelica into her arms, kissing the little chubby cheeks with wild abandon. Her love kisses earned her a cascade of gleeful chuckles and a huge, lopsided grin that mirrored her own. At last she cradled the child to her chest, the curly head resting in the crook between Bette’s shoulder and neck.
"I love you, Little Boo. I love you so much," she whispered, tears flowing from her eyes. "Don’t ever forget, Mama loves you. Mama loves you."
Angelica’s response was a warm snuggle and it was another stab in Bette’s bleeding heart to realize that her daughter was settling in against her for the night. Angie was preparing to be rocked to sleep. But on this night, she and Bette would not even sleep under the same roof.
The dark-haired woman kissed her baby girl’s forehead one last time before handing her back to Tina. Her weary dark eyes met Tina’s angered hazel orbs and once again, Bette could not understand just what she’d done to turn the blonde woman’s heart to stone.
She’d been wrong. She’d made mistakes.
Plenty of mistakes.

Glad to see you back, MTS! :) I thought you’d never post again so this is a nice surprise. I have a soft spot for your “Roommates” series and I still wish you’d continue and finish it someday. But thank you for writing and posting again. Cheers to your return! =)

MTS is Back! And with a wonderful story! I liked how this story ended on a note of hope (and had Tina and Henry behaving with decency and kindness, even though they were justifiably angry), despite being set in the grimness that was Season 3. I have waited so,so very long for a continuation of The Roommates. Please do give us some of that tale as well.
Wonderful writing. I can feel Bette’s pain and her return to sanity. Sad but hopeful.
Welcome back!!! I am always ready for a new adventure with her new story. This serie was very very difficult for me to watch. And to be honest, I did not watch it all. To sad and unfair on Bette. After all she is Angie’s mother as well as Tina.GOD will keep Angie safe Bette and he will bring you her back eventually.
Excellent story. I look forward to more. I’m not familiar with your other story or stories, but I would like to read Roommates too please.
So happy to see you back and with a new story to boot! I’m partial to “Roommates”, but I like this one as well. Thanks for posting!
WELCOME BACK!!!! What a nice surprise to see your name again! And what a heart wrenching beginning. You wrote this first chapter perfectly….and I do mean perfectly! Thank you for coming back!
OMG, OMG, OMG….I love that you’re back. I wish more of your originators would write again. Those 4 pages just slammed me right back to that moment, it’s been so long since the series has been on and I don’t watch the DVD’s yet. I’m so excited to know your writing again, thanks!!!!
It’s wonderful to have you back and with a very turthful and painful chapter in their lives. We know Tina can be vindictive when she wants but hopefully you will turn her around little by little. So glad Bette put that bottle down. Can hardly wait for the next chapter. Thanks for sharing with us.
