The Triangle of Love – Chapter 21
Dana: Not going to happen.
Alice: I love you so much, Dane.
Dana: I know you do, and I love you so much too.
They locked eyes and shared a loving gaze, before the clearing of a throat caused the two women to jump. They turned their heads reluctantly to see Shane stood there, with Bette, Tina and Carmen approaching behind.
Shane: That was cute, but I just had breakfast, so I’d prefer it if you saved your cute couple shite for when you’re alone.
Alice: Fuck you, Shane.
Dana: Yeah, we can be as cutesy coupley as we like.
Dana flipped Shane off before turning to Alice and laughing with her girlfriend.
Shane: Anyway, you remember Carmen?
Carmen walked up to the table and greeted Alice and Dana.
Carmen: How could they forget, you won’t shut up about me.
Alice: Yeah, that’s true. All I’ve heard these past few weeks is Carmen this, Carmen that. I think Shane might be falling in love.
Everyone laughed, apart from Shane, who was frowning at Alice. If looks could kill, Alice would be 10 feet under. Bette and Tina walked up to the table and took their seats. Bette was sat across from Tina, Shane was sat across from Carmen and Alice was sat across from Dana. Bette and Tina were holding hands across the table, as they were engaged in a conversation about work.
Alice: Why isn’t Jenny coming again?
Shane: She’s got a meeting with her manager. She’s wrote a new script, so they’re going over it this morning.
Dana: Well, good luck to her, I guess. What about Helena?
Shane: Meeting for her too.
Alice: Yeah, isn’t she meeting her mother?
Shane: Yeah, money troubles or something.
Dana: That family have enough money to last.
Alice: So do you.
Dana: Yeah, maybe. But I don’t like to talk about money. You know, all that ‘money buys happiness’ crap. Its bullshit.
Carmen: I agree with you. You could be broke, but as long as you’re loved, and are happy in life, that’s all that matters.
Dana had plenty of money, but didn’t like to brag about it. She kept it all in a savings account, for when/if she really needed it. She wasn’t a big spender, but would spend money on things that were important. She wasn’t the type to go out buying the largest house, the snazziest car or the best clothes; she simply wanted to be like a normal person, who played tennis. The money was just a bonus. By now, Bette and Tina had finished their conversation, and had now turned their attention to Alice and Dana.
