As they walked over to the nearest bench Bette took Tinas hand in hers, wanting to feel close to the woman who was the key to everything that she wanted. As they sat down Tina leaned over and gave Bette a gentle kiss on the lips, smiling at the way Bettes eyes lit up at this simple gesture.
T, I love you, you know that, so Im going to cut straight to the chase. Before we go back to LA we need to talk about trying for another baby. I know Ive been the one putting off this conversation, and now you probably think that I only want to have it on my terms, but I need to talk to you about it.
Its fine Bette, we should talk about it before going back home. So let me ask you something, if we were to have a child, what would that childs relationship be to Melvin?
And I thought that I was cutting to the chase. replied Bette.
Its a simple question Bette. stated Tina.
But it doesnt have a simple answer. Of course I would want Melvin regard any child of ours as his own grandchild. I know he hurt you last time, and I should have stood up to him. I know that now and thats one thing that I plan to change the next time we meet. He should understand that our relationship is as important as any that he has had. T, you might think that Im stubborn, but Melvin taught me all I know, so I dont know what I can do to change his mind, but I promise you that Ill try. Is it important to you that Melvin is a part of our childs life?
Do you not think that Melvins parenting style might inform your own?
He pushed me, I admit that but
No Bette, you told me that I was the first person to ever look at you with unconditional love. You understand what that means dont you?
Youre testing me, to see if I can give you the answers that you want. said Bette, getting frustrated by the way that this was all turning out.
Its not about that, its about knowing that if we do decide to try for another baby its for the right reasons. That its not about putting right the wrongs in all of our other relationships, including our own.

Whoa Bette was practically ready to carry the baby? Damn gina she definitely HAS changed. lol Okay now Tina has to ask for her ring back if she can find a moment to not be a little chickenshit. ;)
Excellent chapter….but im getting impatient for the ring thingie…lol…love the new improved Bette….and Kate..well if i were Tina id be taking her back to LA too…..
They always do better when they involve a rational third party who will tell them the truth and who they respect like Alice and Kate.

Great chapter, I like how you got them talking about Melivin, but allowed Bette to get there in her own time. Good to see how trusting Tina is in Kate’s evolving friendship with Bette too.
