Tossing And Turning – Part 6

“Hospital.” Bette said, cutting Tina off. Again, nothing was being said… Bette was getting tired of it.

“Okay, Tina, this is getting awkward. I thought that we said to each other that what happened wouldn’t make things awkward and look at us, things are awkward.”

Tina looked down. “I’m sorry… I know, it’s just weird.”

Bette nodded. “I understand…” She wanted to say something more but was cut off by her cell ringing. She excused herself and picked up. It was Avila. The Chinese woman said something funny again and she laughed. Tina couldn’t help but feel jealous. Bette pushed her phone off and put it away.

“I invited a friend of mine over here. She said she needed some fun, so…” Bette said.

“That’s okay.” Tina told her, still feeling jealous. “Who is she?”

“Oh, I don’t think you’ll know her. Her name is Avila Ferdez. She is one of my best friends outside of the Gang.” Bette explained.

“Oh, alright.” Tina told her. The door of the café opened and Avila walked in with Rita on her hand. They walked over to the table.

“Hello.” Avila greeted them and then leaned down, giving Bette a kiss on the cheek. Tina’s jaw clenched. Rita also hugged Bette tight before sitting next to Tina and looking at the blonde woman with curiosity.

“I’m Rita. Who are you?” The little girl asked.

    “I’m Tina.”

“Oh, hi Tina, I’m Avila.” Avila said and they shook hands. Avila glanced at Bette, silently saying that Tina was one fine woman making Bette roll her eyes. Tina couldn’t help notice the looks and felt jealous, she used to have such a connection with Bette, and she thought she had lost that.

“How did you two meet?” Tina asked.

“I worked on the displays for the latest show at the CAC. I’m a carpenter. Well, I’m going to get me and my girl some OJ.” Avila said and walked to the counter. Bette swallowed when she saw Tina’s face.

“You really like carpenters, don’t you?” Tina asked, bitter. Bette frowned.

“What? Tina! She is one of my best friends! Besides, she is straight. And something else, why do you care? It’s not like we are together or anything.” Bette said, pointing at Tina.

    1. Nice chapter. The carpenter reference was classic. I like that Bette has a friend outside of the gang that she can talk to about Tina so everyone isn’t interfering in their business. Nice progress in their relationship and how you are moving the story along. Thanks for posting often.

    2. Nice post! Tina’s reaction was awesome…lol did she think Bette had another family? The green eyed monster strikes again. Can’t wait to see what’s next for our girls.

    3. Well, the date seems to have gone well. Interesting dream… why does no one ever seem to reference the Bon Scott era of AC/DC? Pre-1980 AC/DC is classic! Nice chapter, thanks!

    4. I (I) C (can’t) B (be) D (defeated) your name is too long to keep saying typing “thanks I can’t be defeated” It sounds like I’m making bold statement about myself. Thanks for the post and nice touch with the random BFF with a kid to make Tina jealous. Whatever pushes things along 
