Dana’s words were taking their toll on Bette as she realized of this fact. For the first time ever she wasn’t scared of allowing another person to get too close, instead she was just concerned about the job she had to do considering the fact that it actually involved that other person.

“Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about…” Dana added as she saw this realization on Bette’s face. “And Bette, that’s why we are a team. You don’t have to do everything alone, remember? Sometimes you have to rely on us, and this seems as good a time as any” She warmly added.

“I know we’re a team and I know I can count on you two, thanks Dane” Bette said acknowledging her friend’s warm words.

“I’m gonna go to bed now” Dana said smiling.

“Not so fast tinkerbell… what the hell is going on between you and Alice?” Bette asked mischievously.

“Apparently not as much as between you and Tina” Dana answered jokingly.

“Funny. Now, don’t make me torture you”

“Nothing really, I mean some of our conversations are amazing… she is amazing but, she’s holding back and I’m holding back… I just don’t know how much longer we are going to be able to keep it up” Dana admitted truly frustrated.

“Oh trust me, I understand” Bette said defeated but somewhat happy because her friend also deserved to be happy and maybe Alice could become the source of that joy.

“Yeah, besides the fact that she’s gorgeous doesn’t really help, and the worst part is that she knows what she does to me, or at least I think she does…”

“Are you going to do something about this?” Bette asked truly curious.

“I don’t know, I mean… you probably are as painfully aware of this as I am but living with them doesn’t really help. I swear sometimes I think I’m in the seventh circle of hell, one that I don’t want to get out of, but it’s a sweet and slow torture none the less and… I don’t know exactly where it may lead to”

“So you’re trying at all costs to avoid anything happening between you and Alice because you don’t know where that will take you, or better yet what you two could become?”
