Bette returned home to find Tina in her pj’s waiting on the couch. She started to sit beside her, then stopped. She removed her gun from her holster and sat it down again. “Let me get rid of this.” She took her place at Tina’s side and wrapped her arm around her shoulders.
“Everything go ok?” Tina asked.
“Yep.”
Anything exciting going on out there?”
“No.”
“Was the person really drunk?”
“Honey, I don’t really want to talk about work. Don’t you think my job has interrupted us enough for one night? Can I just sit here and hold you?”
“Any time” Tina said as she snuggled further into Bette’s body.
They were both quiet, each in their own little world. After a few minutes of just enjoying being together, Bette broke the silence. “Are you leaving tomorrow?” she asked hesitantly.
“I thought I’d stay with you until Tuesday morning when I have to leave to get home in time for work. If that’s ok?”
Bette’s spirits seemed to climb. “That’s great. I was upset that my work had interfered in our only night together. And for future reference, you don’t have to ask if you can stay. You are always welcome here.”
“Ok” Bette’s mood was contagious as Tina smiled. “Hey, I thought you were going to make it up to me when you got home?”
“Well far be it from me to disappoint a pretty lady” Bette said as she turned and found Tina’s lips again. They kissed a few minutes before Bette moved her mouth down to Tina’s neck. She spent some time there, licking and sucking, making Tina moan louder by the minute.
After a few more minutes of their make-out session, Bette pulled back. “What’s wrong?” Tina asked her.
“Nothing’s wrong” Bette answered, out of breath. “Except if we continue this much longer, I’m not sure I’ll be able to stop. And Tina, I respect you far too much to try to sleep with you on our first date.”
“That’s good. I care about you, but I’m not ready to jump into bed either.” Tina voiced her opinion.
“I think we should probably get ready for bed. Separately.” Bette told her.
“Ok. I want you to know I had a wonderful time tonight. And I can’t wait to wake up and get to spend another day with you.”
Bette walked Tina to the door of the guestroom and kissed her goodnight.
“Good night” Bette told her.
“Mmmm good night to you too.”
Bette kissed her again, this time so much slower and gentler. It was a kiss that was going to have to last them both for the next few hours. “Tina, I’m an old-fashioned girl. I believe in taking things slow. I believe in courtship, wooing and winning. So prepare to be swept off your feet ….” Bette said as she smiled and turned to head to the other end of the house.

I’m from West Virginia and guns still freak me out a bit. Last time I tried to shoot one my face was too close to it and it kicked back and gave me a cut under my eye. lol I’m glad to see they aren’t jumping into bed already. I always love a good slow burn.

Love this story. I like that they are taking it slow, and I like Tina’s genuine concern for Bette’s safety. Hopefully Bette will continue to be safe on her job. Please post soon.
ok so I hope that if Bette loves her job that she is not pressured to quit because of Tina’s insecurities and that instead she learns to adjust and accept it. If on the other hand she hates her job then let her quit. I already see that we’re in for a slow burn and no speedy updates, bummer…..anywho. I hope you post soon!!! And a bit longer chapters
i love this fic…….it is a great start……i like the whole old-fashioned love thing…….wooing tina off of her feet…..and i love the thought of bette as a cop…….it makes the storyline more interesting, and it certainly opens up alot more that you could write about……no stopping on this fic……to many ways you can take this…….kudo’s and a whole helluva lotta stars for you ldw604
i like it slow too, building the tension, seeing them dating and then being happy
guns are dangerous but if is she has to use for work what can she does? is good to know that they will take easily and slow
I’m from Texas also and though we are not from the deep south, Texas is considered mid-south, we still honor a number of the old ways and one is wooing a lass and sweeping her off her feet. It is so much fun.
Tina has a lot more self control than I do. I grew up in a house that always had/has guns. Heck my dad is a Texan, they have guns in their boots. I can’t wait to see Bette sweep Tina off of her feet. Post soon.
Bette should let it be known at the PD that they can’t keep calling her for any little back up. Looking forward to the courting and wooing even though the winning part has perhaps already been accomplished…LOL!
Tensions rising – & thats just in the readers!
I guess Bette could wear an ankle holster and wider-legged pants! …I don’t like guns either, but it goes with the territory. A police officer has to be ready at all times, even off duty. Never know when a perp might want to get revenge. They also usually don’t list their names or addresses in public directories for the same reason. Good luck, Bette and Tina! Thanks.

Imagine having a girl like Bette say that to you…..WOW Tina is one lucky girl :o)) Great beginning to a very sweet story and I’m glad they are taking things slow, but how slow can they take it??? LOL. Post soon please….
of course I am a Texan also, Dallas Texas to be exact, and theres a lot of old fashion down here for the good and bad. Maybe bad shouldn’t quit her job but become like some sort of superintendent or something where she can still be a cop but not worked the streets but that’s if her and Tina really become serious, other than that deal with it Kennard, that’s cop life. These two are sooooo adorable in this story, I love the way Bette calls her babe and baby after just meeting her #SoFuckingCute
