Tina – It felt so freeing … so refreshing to take the plunge. I was feeling kind of …

She sighs.

Tina – … restless.

Bette – Is your hair still wet?

Tina – Kind of.

Bette – Well … why don’t you bring your sleeping bag closer? You can sleep between me and the fire. It will insulate you more.

Tina – OK.

Tina gets out of her sleeping bag and grabs it, making her way to the brunette. She places it between Bette and the fire and lies down. After a short moment, she sighs again.  

Bette – Are you still uncomfortable?

Tina – Yeah …

Bette sits down and looks concerned.

Bette – I wonder if you are catching a cold …

Tina – I don’t think so.

The brunette unzips her sleeping bag and touches the blonde’s head.

Bette – Your hair is wet! I told you not to do that! Hypothermia is a big deal around here.

Tina – I don’t think it’s my hair.

Bette grabs an unused t-shirt in her backpack and brings it to the blonde.

Bette – Our towels are wet. Try to dry your hair some more with this t-shirt.

Tina – It’s not my hair.

She smells Bette’s t-shirt instead, which brings a smile to her face.

Bette – Don’t argue. Do it!

The blonde purses her lips and dries off her hair with the t-shirt.

Tina – And give me your sleeping bag. We can turn the two bags into a larger one.

The blonde leaves her sleeping bag and Bette zips it to hers, making the two into one.

Bette – That way my body heat can help you.

Tina raises her eyebrows.

Tina – OK.

She smiles.

Bette – You’re not going to get sick on me!

She gets into the sleeping bag again.

Bette – Come in!

The blonde gets into the sleeping bag.

Tina – It’s a little tight. Maybe if we move to our sides.

She moves to her side and backs into Bette, forcing the brunette to spoon her. She closes her eyes with a sigh.

Tina – Mmmm … much better!

Bette looks at the woman in front of her and begins to regret her idea. She smells like soap, thinks the brunette, overwhelmed by her proximity. Lavender … like the blonde’s favorite cologne. The brunette had bought it for that reason, the previous month, because it smelled like the blonde. She touches her hair, causing the blonde to open her eyes.
