    When Hope Is Lost

When he asked about her real mom, she paused for a moment as it was a painful place to visit as her mother’s absence had left such a huge open space in her heart. She shared that it was so long ago that she couldn’t quite remember all the details. She thought that maybe she was five when her mom had disappeared and that was about twenty-five years ago. She didn’t know where she was and she hadn’t looked for her.

It must have been the magic of Ozzie as he thought it would be a good idea for Bette to let her sister know that she was okay. So, one morning before they took their walk on a Saturday morning to go for breakfast, Bette sat down at her computer with Ozzie sitting right next to her and she wrote Kit an email to let her know that she was still alive and okay. That was all she said and Ozzie was happy with that. The two of them then took off for their Saturday morning walk to find breakfast at a near by diner.

To say that Kit was in shock when she found an email from her sister so soon after her third Internet search was putting in mildly. She cried when she read it and wished that Bette had said more. After coming back to her center, she sat down and wrote a very long letter apologizing to her sister for her actions and words against her and hoped that soon they could begin the healing process. She didn’t push for her whereabouts.

It would be six weeks before Kit heard back from her. Bette just wrote that she forgave her and nothing more. From that point on, emails from Bette would be sporadic. She didn’t want any contact from her past life yet and didn’t respond back in any fashion that pushed her past her limit of comfort.

Kit did share the information with Tina that Bette had contacted her to let her know that she was alive, but not where she was. When Tina inquired as to the email address, Kit shared that she’d have to wait for that as she didn’t want to push Bette into any space of being uncomfortable for fear of losing her again. Tina was sad in hearing that but she understood.

    1. Loving the direction this story is taking. Now with Maxine about to re-appear in Bettes life as well its all very exciting.Just looking forward to that moment when they both meet again after such a long time and how Bette reacts….and at some point in the distant future the moment that Tina and Bette meet again.PPS

    2. Love how this story is coming together. Just wondering..are Allyn and Maxine together? Can’t quite figure out the conversation with Peggy and Allyn about where Maxine fits in! Please post soon…

    3. Im so interested to see how tina and bette will meet again. 1st i thought it would b thru peggy but thats not happening anytime soon. Then i thought thru kit with email but that didnt happen either. Cant wait for them to meet again and what circumstance. Pps

    4. Hmm, seems like Allyn and Peggy are playing with people’s lives a bit; deliberately taking Bette’s name off the gallery’s website is them engineering things, not letting the Universe work its magic. And if Allyn knows Maxine, well… A possible very painful reunion is not meant to be a spectator sport. There’s also a good chance that Bette may miss the birth of the baby, but that’s information for Tina to relay. I’ll just have to wait and see how everything unfolds. Thanks for posting.

    5. Still reading and waiting for the tide to turn in this story. I’m rooting for them, I really am but I can’t help my dislike for Tina. You are the first writer to make me not like Tina but continue to read. Amazing, thank you bumsue and happy new year ✌😁

    6. I’m smelling some drama brewing in the air… I feel bad that Bette might not be there when Tina gives birth to their baby but i hope that things will be alright between them eventually, however i still believe that Tina has to earn her spot in Bette’s life. NO matter how long it will take I’m in for the ride, thanks Sue!

    7. YAY,YAY,YAY!!! What a wonderful chain of events. When I was reading yesterday or whenever it was(I have the flu I think) my one question for Allyn was how did she know Maxine. Now I think I know, from the conversation between Peggy and Allyn it seems as they are partners. From your typing hands to Gods’ ear. I only hope when Bette gets to meet her mother again that she won’t go off on her but try and understand the circumstances that Maxine was going thru at that time. Hopefully with these sessions that Bette is experiencing she will have a softer attitude toward her mother. You have answered a number of my questions with this chapter. Please conntine the great writing.
