When You Least Expect It – Chapter 12
Tina pressed her lips together, warding off a wave of tears that she felt approaching. She smiled and in that instant, her eyes became glossy. Her nose was a delicate pink in color, her eyes shined in the soft light. Never before had Bette seen anything more beautiful.
"I love you too, Bette. So, so much. I don’t think I could ever say it enough"
As if on cue, the live band took stage and began to play Rod Stewart’s "Have I told you lately that I love you". Bette and Tina continued to gaze lovingly into each other’s eyes as the soft instrumentals played in the background.
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there’s no one else above you
Fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
"Come on" Bette smiled as she lightly tugged on Tina’s hands, "I want to dance with my beautiful girlfriend"
She pushed her seat back to stand just as Tina did the same, their hands never releasing their hold on one another. Bette guided the blonde onto the dance floor, walking backwards as if she couldn’t bring herself to look away from Tina for even a second.
"Oh, so I’m your girlfriend now?" The blonde teased, her heart racing with excitement and happiness.
"I hope so" Bette slowly spun the blonde around with one hand, the other still firmly holding onto Tina’s. "If not then I’m clearly doing something wrong"
She immediately closed the distance between them, Tina’s back to her front and the two of them gently swayed to the beat of the music.
For the morning sun in all it’s glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too
You fill my life with laughter
And somehow you make it better
Ease my troubles that’s what you do
Bette placed a loving kiss on Tina’s cheek before spinning her back around and continuing their dance. She took Tina’s left hand in her right, her own left wrapped around the blonde’s waist and keeping her close. They moved gracefully on the dance floor, unknowingly attracting admirers, lost in their own world.
