Her eyes must have given her thoughts away because Tina began to blush for no reason at all, a wide smile spread across her beautiful face.
With a smile of her own, Bette ran her thumb over the clasp of the bracelet. Neither woman said anything further but then they didn’t need to, their eyes having a conversation all their own.
Through the entire dinner, Kevin watched outside in a dark shadowed corner across the street from the restaurant. His view of the couple was somewhat obscured due to the table being set up so that Bette’s back blocked most of everything else. Despite that inconvenience and the fuzzy vision of his drunken state, Kevin was still able to see when Bette dropped to her knees beside Tina. It was no mystery why she would be on her knees in one of the most popular and romantic restaurants in LA and Kevin found himself tightly squeezing the neck of the beer bottle in his hand.
Spying on them hadn’t been intentional, a mere coincidence really. He had been stumbling by, out on another beer run after the cab driver had dropped him off at home. Initially he had planned to sleep off his drunken stupor but Tina’s words wouldn’t leave his swirling mind, encouraging him to seek out more alcohol to drown out his thoughts. Of course as luck would have it, he would run into the very woman he didn’t want to think about.
He watched as she dined in complete bliss, feeling his anger growing by the second. For the life of him, Kevin couldn’t understand what Tina saw in Bette. To him, there was nothing the brunette could offer that Kevin himself couldn’t give.
He hadn’t been the most loyal husband when they were married but had Tina given him another chance, he would only cheat on occasion instead of nearly every day like he had before. He would have treated Tina like the trophy she was, giving her anything she desired.
Seeing the exchange between Tina and Bette now however, Kevin finally realized that all his efforts to win the blonde over had been for nothing. For whatever reason, Tina preferred Bette and that rejection stung more than anything else.
He watched as Bette rose to place a sweet kiss on Tina’s waiting lips, feeling foolish for thinking the blonde would be his again. His grip tightened on the beer bottle and before he knew it, it was flying across the street at the window of the restaurant.
He walked away before watching to see the results of his action, the sound of breaking glass filling his ears a moment later.
He may have lost Tina to Bette but Kevin would be damned if he would lose Angelica too. He had already witnessed the bond between his daughter and the brunette who basically stole his life and Kevin was going to put a stop to it. Did Bette think she would marry Tina, adopt Angelica and live happily ever after?
Wasn’t gonna happen.
No one was going to take his daughter from him.

About the chapter, Kevin is a nasty piece of ass.
I don’t understand why Tina didn’t tell the truth who was at the door.

I understand why Tina tried be friends with Kevin, but i think she need to stop be so naive about him. She alredy understand it, after his drunk appearance, but maybe it’s too late – he’s already made his plans about Angelica.

I think that Kevin, how stupid he is, understand that no judge gives him custody of Angelica. So i think he might to try another, illegal way to take Ange.

So glad Tina got wise to his lil game to win her back. After ABANDONING Tina and Angie and having NO RELATIONSHIP with his child, I can’t see a Court giving him any rights…he would have to have supervise visitation at best.
I love the way Tina Reassured Bette that she is her ONE AND ONLY!!!
Great birthday dinner with the Bracelet and the understanding that a proposal is coming one day…cute! I wished she would have told Bette about Kevin showing up drunk and looking to reconcile, but I understand NOT wanting to ruin their time together after a tough couple of weeks. I know Bette is gonna lose it when she finds out what Kevin is up to. She is very protective of Tina and Angie!
Glad you are feeling better, I had bronchitis in December it is hard on the body…the coughing alone make you so tired and sore. Take care and take all your antibiotics!

Ugh. Kevin is grinding my gears lol! I wish he’d just disappear and let Bette take over as the second parent role officially. Seems as if she has anyway. Ohhhh and I hope that’s a foreshadowing of a soon-to-be proposal! Love your stories. :)

Any chance u would make a sequel out of “as good as it gets” and continue with “never say never”? I am curious what kind of life does Tibette have with Tina become a famous singer and bette as a famous producer in as good as it gets or how Tina could finally fall in love with bette in never say never…i have to say from all of Tibette’s stories that i’ve read only in never say never Tina and Alice was sister.. and it’s quit refreshing..:D
