“That’s horrible” Tina sat back in her seat as she held the flute close to her body, “I wonder who would do such a thing”
Bette shrugged, “Probably some drunken idiot who saw something he didn’t want to see. Maybe his wife was cheating on him or something”
Bette’s first sentence sent a chill down Tina’s spine, stiffening her entire body. Kevin had been a drunken idiot that very same night but he wouldn’t have stooped so low as to follow her or even to destroy property like that. Would he?
“Would you rather we find someone else to watch Angie?” Bette asked as she noticed the look of concern on her girlfriend’s face.
Tina sighed with a shake of her head, “No, I trust Lucy. That and there isn’t anyone else available tonight anyway”
“True” Bette chuckled as she thought of her friends and their planned night out, “I almost feel bad for Jan. Once Alice found out she was looking to settle down, she’s been throwing women at her left and right”
“Which is probably why Jan suggested they all go out tonight. At least that way she won’t be blind sighted” Tina laughed before bringing her glass to her lips.
“I hope she finds someone” Bette confessed, sincerity swirling in her chocolate eyes. “She’s a good person. I want her to be as happy with someone as I am with you”
Completely touched with Bette’s words, Tina rested her head back against the seat and gazed lovingly into the brunette’s eyes. She tucked a loose curl behind the brunette’s ear with a smile.
“I’m happy too”
“Really?” Bette asked as if she didn’t already know the answer, a bright smile spread across her face with an innocence that Tina found adorable.
“Yeah” Tina nodded as she combed the hair at Bette’s temple with the back of her fingers, her wide smile matching Bette’s. “I still can’t believe everything between us actually happened. You came into my life when I needed you the most and completely turned it around. You made it better”
“I feel the same about you and Angie” Bette leaned into Tina’s touch, “I don’t know where I’d be without either one of you. I don’t think people go about their days intending to fall in love but when you least expect it .. it’s like you can’t figure out how you ever got by without it”
