“No, I can’t have any more wine or I won’t be able to drive,” Tina held her hand over her glass as she spoke.

Bette reluctantly placed the bottle back on the table.

Angelica was using her leftover mashed carrots to draw on the tray of her high chair. She had what appeared to be a sun on the horizon, streaks of orange leading away from it.

“Trips to the beach to see the sunset are paying off,” Tina commented as she nodded towards Angelica. “We may have a realist in our midst.”

Just at that moment, Angelica made a well in the centre of the sun with her index finger and filled it with soy milk.

They both kept the laughter inside but beamed at her actions.

“Or maybe she’s just playing with her food,” Bette shrugged.

    Angelica smiled at them proudly.

“I guess you’re done eating Angel,” Tina stood and walked to the sink to grab a dishcloth. “I’ll get her cleaned up if you want to clear the dishes.”

It wasn’t long before Tina had set Angelica in the living room to play on her own and sat down again to enjoy the last of her wine in the kitchen.

“Thanks for staying,” Bette said, as she closed the dishwasher. She walked up behind Tina and placed her hands on her shoulders. “It’s good for the three of us to have family days together.”

She started to massage the taut muscles of Tina’s upper back.

    “Bette…”

    “Yeah?”

“I don’t think you should do that,” Tina said quietly.

    “No?” she continued anyway.

Tina placed her hand over one of Bette’s, effectively halting her movements.

“Just because you’ve been feeling ignored doesn’t mean you should seek out what you’re missing from me,” Tina said. “When you do things like this, it undermines our progress toward friendship.”

Bette removed her hands and sat down again.

She traced her index finger around the rim of her wine glass as she pondered whether or not she would ask the question that was on her mind. She steeled herself with another sip and met Tina’s eyes.

“Did you sleep with Brenda?” Bette asked, maintaining eye contact.

“That’s really none of your business anymore,” Tina replied.

    1. Bette’s doing the right thing, professionally and personally, by Jodi. Let’s hope she can do the right thing for Tina and herself as well. Thanks for the post, jks.

    2. so weve just had a plethoria of great stories today. for now yours being the last for me to read. how do you do it, swimmie??? keep us so enthralled. thx

    3. that would be so perfect for the show but then they won’t have any drama left LOL i think you captured jodi’s feelings perfectly…let’s see how tina will react and if brenda gonna be a problem

    4. Glad that’s over and it’s about time that Bette dumped Jodi, if only she would on the show and it does look as though it is coming to that, just wish they would hurry and get it done. Now that Bette has taken care of that little business it is now time for her to go get Tina and tell her just how much she loves her and wants her back and tht she would do anything to get her back. Great post Swimmie. PPS

    5. Sweet, your Bette seems to have a brain. She is actually showing character growth appropriately assessing the end of her relationship. Now, she needs to stick around and prove to Tina that she wants something with her.. that is real. Not just because she ended it with Jodi..and Tina has someone.

    6. thanks for this great story swimmie. i only wish the show had done some of this and then some over the years. i mean there is enough drama for one episode in one glance from b to t! but i guess we have to take the lemons and make lemonade and so this my friend, I’m using for the sugar! PPS

    7. You know I can not believe that I had never put those two incidents together about the robbery and the gun sculpter, that caused Bette to be distant from Jodi, until now. FF usually does make the picure more clearly than the show itself. I still wished that IC had broken Bette and Jodi up before she hooked back up with Tina, but as they say Ke Sar Sar…what was done is done. Off to the club.

    8. Yeah Jodi…there are lots of reasons why it wasn’t working…like 17 Reasons! The first time I felt SOME kindness in that woman was when she wouldn’t let Tina drive. Other than that she is very selfish, self centered, critical, rude, and a stuck up snob. I tried to give her a chance with Bette in my mind, but this season in particular, it just shows that she is by far all about herself and what she wants, and could care less about her other half. So, that being said….YAY for this fic! Thanks Swimmie.
