    Who’s Pointing Fingers Chapter 13

“She wanted you girls to have this money and the piano and artwork. Agnes never had her own children and she was so fond of your father and through him, the both of you as well. She regretted that she was not able to attend his wake but her health was failing and she was not able to travel.” Miranda’s eyes expressed her sadness.

Mr. Le Croix continues. “Miranda, you inherit the remainder of Agnes’s estate. This  includes her home and the acreage surrounding it and $300.000.00 in cash.” Mr. Le Croix went on to explain. “Robert and Agnes did quite well for themselves and their undying devotion to each other was unparalleled. Robert gave Agnes the most generous gift he could give her which was her freedom to love Miranda. Together, they vowed that if Robert should pre-decease Agnes that she would be well cared for. If Agnes should pre-decease Miranda, Miranda would be well cared for.”

Miranda now held the floor. “As this is our first meeting and you do not know me, I want to explain a few things to you. I personally am financially secure. I am not in need of Agnes’s money nor her home. I, like Agnes have a will that provided for her in the event of my untimely death. Mr. Le Croix has been kind enough to handle my legal affairs for years as well. I purpose that we do something amazing with the money. Agnes was an amazingly generous person and I would like to do something in her name equally amazing to honor my friend.” Miranda looks around the room. I purpose that we sell the home and acreage and combine that money with the cash and provide for art and music scholarships in schools in your area where you can both be involved.”

Bette was taken aback by this generous offer. “Miranda, that is a beautiful offer. I am humbled by your generosity. The money and her home were left to you and I could not in good conscience consider you giving away this money. Is it possible that you would ever be in need of this money?”

Mr. Le Croix spoke up. “Bette, your concern is well intended but, Miranda will never live long enough to spend her own money, let alone Agnes’s.”

    1. Marinda was such a beautiful lady. Love that Bette is such a baby. Tina will take care of Bette and will keep Alice in line the Kennard way, thanks for posting

    2. ok now I know who’s pointing fingers, its Bette….LOL… ok that was a bad Alice joke and I apologize…”wink” anyway not suprise by Aunt Agnes “companion” …cant wait to see what happens next…PPS

    3. Loved it. I have a picture of Miranda in my head and I have always loved the name Miranda. Yes, Tina will get all soft and gooey and take very good care of Bette.I want to know more about Miranda and Agnes’ lives together. We don’t know if they lived together at any time. I hope they had that opportunity. Robert was quite a man to understand that they loved each other and needed to be allowed to express that love without recriminations, guilt and hatred towards them. Mr. LaCroix told Bette that Miranda would ot live long enough to spend her own money let alone Agnes’. Did that mean because of her age or is she ill as well as aged? I hope he only means age. Really would lke to know more about those two ladies with that all consuming love. Get Bette back home to Tina. Wonderful chapter. PPS

    4. Sorry to hear about your grandpa, but sometimes you have to let the professionals take over even if you don’t want to (: at least you gave it your best try. I am glad everything went well for Bette and Kit and maybe they will keep in touch with Miranda. Now Bette needs to work on Tina and getting them back together. PPS

    5. I am sorry to hear about your father’s illness. I know that it was hard for you to do what you have done. As far as the story, Miranda is a wonderful woman along with Agnes. This may be what is needed to get Bette and Tina over the edge and into a better situation together.
