Mark hangs up.  He then punches in some more keys.

Mark ”Carmen…it’s Mark.  Um…I’m just wanting to make sure you’re okay.  I wanted to check on you this morning, but you were already gone.  Um…I’m kinda at a loss on what to do now.  Shane’s not here.  You’re not here.  I was expecting I’d be the one who’d have to no longer be here, but…well…anyway.  Um…let me know what I can do.  Because it…really sucks not having either of you here right now.  Call back…thanks.”

Mark hangs up and sighs.

Mark ”Shit.”

Bette and Tina’s.

Tina sighs as they arrive together with baby Angelica in tow.

Tina ”I really don’t feel like going over to Henry’s tonight.  Is it okay to crash in the guest room?”

Bette ”It’s fine.”

Tina ”Bette…I’m sorry.  All this stuff with Henry and then the custody thing and…”

Bette ”Tee…it’s okay.  We’ve been through worse.  Maybe that’s why all this happened.”

Tina ”That’s no excuse.  Henry…kept wanting to push to be recognized as Angelica’s new father.  It was an insult to you.”

Bette ”Well…we’ll talk to Joyce.  And we will get this…worked out.  We’re both going to be part of this child’s life.”

Tina ”We are.  I’ll talk to Henry…I’m gonna make sure he understands that.  And that nothing’s gonna change that.”

They are broken, but trying.

Alice’s apartment.

Alice has returned alone while Lara has decided to stay in her own apartment this evening.  Lara is not leaving for San Francisco, choosing to keep her job at The Planet.  That does not make things any better for either of them.  For tonight, Lara just wants to be alone.  Alice picks up her cellphone and punches in some keys.

Shane, Carmen, and Mark’s apartment.

Mark cannot sleep.  With both Shane and Carmen both not returning his messages, all he can do is sit and worry.  He has thought about heading over to East Los Angeles, having recovered the Morales family address in the apartment.  Instead, he just sits there on the couch.  His phone rings.  Mark picks it up and answers.

Mark ”Hello?”

Alice ”Mark!  Hey.”

Mark ”Lara talking yet?”

Alice ”…Not really.  I’m at my place.  She’s at hers.  You heard from Shane?”

Mark ”No.  Haven’t heard from Carmen either.”

Alice ”Do you…have any idea where Carmen stays?”

Mark ”Yeah, there’s a place in East L.A.  I remember Shane giving me the address just in case of emergency some time back.”

Alice ”I was wondering if you could do me a really big favor.”

Mark ”Of course.”

Mark listens, awaiting Alice’s request.
