    Tina smiled “she puppy eyed you?”

    “She got upset that was the battle lost” Bette said quietly “I hate seeing her hurting”

    “I felt guilty too hence why I came home” Tina sat down on the opposite sofa looking over at them

     

    4 days later…

    Lisa walked into the kitchen

    “Happy birthday” Mason said kissing her on the cheek

    “Thanks buddy you okay?”

    “Yeah I’d be even better if Mum and Mama gave me the day of school, I have an exam that I’m not looking forward too” Mason sighed lifting his bag

    “Where are they?”

    “Right here” Bette smiled kissing Lisa on the cheek and wishing her happy birthday, Tina did the same.

    “Is my sister awake?”

    “What do you think” Mason laughed

    “Whose the flowers for?” Lisa asked

    “Jess from Carmen” Mason stated “Theres also a box for you and box for her”

    “Okay” Lisa walked over lifting the box and opening it inside she lifted a letter folded over.

    Hope you have an amazing birthday, I’m sorry I couldn’t be there, I’m trying to get home as fast as I can but we’ve came up against a few hurdles. I hope you’re not too pissed at me and will let me explain why I did what I did when I get back.

    Lisa read the letter over again before handing it to Bette. Tina stood beside her reading the letter

    She opened the box to reveal her favourite perfume and chocolate. “I swear she knows me better than my husband”

    Bette and Tina smiled

    “So tonight will be interesting, Jess is going to tell everyone tonight at the BBQ” Lisa explained

    “I think I’ll stay at Dylan’s”

    “You’re not missing your sister’s birthday BBQ” Bette stated “It’s not up for discussion”

    “Any idea from the postage where it came from?”

    “Nope I already checked” Mason stated “I need to go Mama”

    “Ok ok let’s go” Bette said kissing Tina softly “Love you”

    “Bye Mama” Lisa smiled hugging her “Good luck Mas”
