Written in the Stars Chapter Seven

“Bette I was so scared what took you so long.” Tina sobbed.

“Did he…” Bette couldn’t get the sentence out.

Tina shook her head. Bette squeezed her eyes shut in relieve. She still wanted to kill Henry though. The bastard had stilled tried to hurt Tina. Hot with anger and rage, she pushed Tina away got her sword ready and approached the slime who was still passed out on the ground.

“No” Shane screamed as she fought Bette to the ground who was already poised and ready for an attack.

Bette had never had the urge to kill anyone until now. “You’re not a killer” Shane continued.

Bette wanted to cry. The pain and suffering she had endured because of Henry was too much. A part of her felt he deserved to die but attacking him while he was down would only have made her sunk to his level. Shane was right.

“That girl needs you more. Okay, buddy” she patted Bette’s head like a parent would do to a child. “I’ll be right back.”

Bette returned to Tina’s side. “I’m sorry about that. I just wanted to kill him” The blonde wrapped her arms around Bette’s neck again. She sobbed into Bette’s neck uncontrollably. Bette felt horrible. This was all her fault, if she had warned Tina to be more careful or if she had been faster in escaping her cell.  She lost count of all long they had been in each other’s arm, until Shane returned with two horses. One was hers and the other was Bette’s that had been locked in the stables.

“Black Hawk” she called to her horse. He was as black as the night. He trotted over to her and neighed.

“I missed you, too” Bette said. Using his nose he nudged at Bette as if to say I’m ready to leave now.

She lifted a dazed and sobbing Tina on to the saddle then mounted behind her.

She turned to Shane who was had already mounted her horse. “Did anyone see you?”

“No” replied the smaller woman. “Good, let’s get out of here before that sick bastard wakes up.”

Tapping her heels against the beast’s sides and they trotted off in the direction for home. Bette looked over her shoulder at Henry’s still unconscious form. “I’ll get you, even if it kills me.”
