    You (Part the Seventeenth)

"Well, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve felt better…but I’ll be fine, Al. I just need to rest. Come back here."

"Okay, okay," Alice muttered, but she climbed back into bed dutifully and spooned Dana.

"So what time’s your date tonight?"

Alice sighed and shook her head. "I’m not gonna go, Dana."

"Bullshit. You’re going. I don’t care how jealous it makes me, you’re right, you need to explore your options. And even if you didn’t, I feel like shit and we agreed that you’d take breaks, remember? So as your best friend, I’m making you go."

"Fine, whatever you say," Alice whispered. "Go back to sleep, sweetie. I can wait a few hours before I go home to get ready." She drifted off herself.

At five, she reluctantly extricated herself from the bed and went home to change, calling Helena from her living room. "Is this a bad idea?"

"No, darling, I think it’s a good idea."

"I feel like I should have stayed with Dana."

"Darling, if you had she’d have hated it. She understands that you need to have time away from her, Alice. That’s what this is all about. Dana’s far from stupid; she knows that one dinner isn’t going to change the world. I think you should go, it’ll be good for you."

"Are you sure you and Dana aren’t rehearsing these speeches beforehand, Helena? You’re both starting to sound like broken records. I’ll go, okay? But first I’m gonna go over to the video store and get Dana some movies for tonight."

"All right, dear. Have fun on your date, call me tomorrow and stop worrying, all right?"

"All right," Alice agreed before hanging up. True to her word, she headed over to the video store and picked up some movies for Dana, then headed to the condo. She had about half an hour before she was supposed to meet Chandra at the restaurant, so she was making good time.

"Okay, I got you a whole bunch of stuff, so whatever you’re in the mood for, okay?" Alice said distractedly as she set the movies on the couch next to Dana, who was bundled up in a hat and sweater like she lived in Illinois in December or something.

    1. That was incredible muted, I agree with the others, if only season 3 had gone this way *sighs* and I’m starting to love Dana so much more in this story so I will cry and throw something at you if you kill her off, I mean it biatch :P Can’t wait for your next post xx

    2. Muted, that was just incredible. I didn’t want it to end! And I’m so glad she didn’t go on the date with Chandra, that never sat well with me when I watched s3. Anyway, this story is so well written and I sound like a broken record, but you write these characters so fn well I’m just amazed by it.

    3. And as usual, I love the twist you gave this story as compared to the original storyline. This is how it should have been. I always hated the fact that we never got to know if Dana actually got jealous at Alice going on a date with Chandra. As a hardcore Danish fan I ofcourse always believed she was. ;) I wonder how you will continue with Dana’s sickbed and all… As you closely follow the storyline of S3, the next episode is the one where Dana dies. Whatever you will do, I at least know for sure that there will be much more ‘screentime’ in your story for Alice and (especialy) Dana than on the real show (I mean..how much screen time did Dana get in the episode where she died…I think 5 minutes is even overestimated).

    4. Um…I’m a little scared. This was so good and slayingly (is that a word?) sad. Oh and don’t disregard the yum-ness that is the oatmeal pancake – it’s not like zucchini pancakes. Now that’s a world of – Eww! Although I do have a fondness for the zucchini. Okay I’m having a major case of thoughtstipation tonight so I’ll end this babble with – Great Chapter!

    5. Awesome…This story is incredible…I really love the convo about thier relationship and I love how Dana asked Alice not to date anyone else…Love it Love it…Also I love how thier unconditional love jumps off the page…Your writing is incredible!!! Keep it up!

    6. That was soooo good I am wrapped up in this story (god I need to get out more!). I just love the way is sorta runs along with IC script but yours is much better……if you know what I mean? PPS :)
