LENOX HILL HOSPITAL-4
”Dr. Torres…” Tina said passing by her to get a cup of coffee.
”Dr. Kennard good morning…” Torres replied ”long night?”
Tina turned around, one eyebrow raised ”quite.” and went to take off her shoes on the blue couch at the back of the room, Torres still watching her.
”I know you know” Callie said and Tina looked up sharply, then back down at her steaming cup.
”know what?”
”about me…everything…me and Bette, me and Mark…and now…”
Callie didn’t continue.
”Well the whole hospital knows, Dr. Torres…just like everyone knows that you and I have been putting on a show in the hallways”.
Touchè.
”They told me that you and Bette have become friends…”
Tina raised an eyebrow ”you don’t give a shit about Bette.”
”you’re wrong…”
Tina laughed ironically ”ok…ok…so what do you want here? say it because I won’t play your childish games.”
Callie approached Tina’s couch, standing in front of her ”I don’t want anything ok? I just want to tell you that I’m happy that she has someone, besides her usual friends…”
Tina laughed
”listen” Callie interrupted her ”I know it’s hard to believe but I loved Bette, so much…I wanted to start a family with her and see her like this…it destroyed me”
”you were fucking someone else.”
”yes…because she pushed me away! you don’t know her yet…we didn’t talk anymore, she stayed here when she had freestyle wrestling with some excuse…I was wrong and I will always regret hurting her, but Bette also has her share of the blame Tina, believe it or not.”
Tina pursed her lips ”why are you telling me this?”
Callie sighed ”because if she let you get close it means she’s moving on…”
”Bette and I don’t intend to have a relationship, but you wouldn’t be interested anyway.”
Callie looked at the blonde, she was really a girl Bette could be interested in, Callie knew it, but anyway Tina was right it was none of her business anymore.
”She is precious Tina…even though I let her go, she is precious…” Callie turned and walked out of the room leaving Tina at the mercy of the two thousand questions. How could Dr. Torres judge Tina and Bette without ever having seen them? Had anyone at the hospital talked about them? Had they seen Tina visit Callie multiple times even though it wasn’t her job?
