Elizabeth said that when she read her character’s description, she thought that she was absolutely great and also a villain, which is much more fun to play. She said that after the show people were saying thank you for doing the show, even if she was a villain, because she was part of the groundbreaking show.
Alicia said that she’s straight and married but being on such a show opened her eyes more and helped her to start up conversations with some closed-minded people, friends or family, about the LGBT issues and life. She’s proud being on a show and thinks that it will be a good lesson for her daughter in the future.
Elizabeth would love to work with her sister, Katherine Keener, who is pretty famous. Alicia said that she’s just wants to concentrate on her family and give birth to her daughter so there’s not going to be much work for her in the near future.
Their favorite scenes were oil-wrestling, party scene and mafia meeting. Everybody was so excited when they found out about the oil-wrestling scene. It was olive oil, which is good for hair skin and they only had one take with three different cameras going to get all the action. The piece of hair that Shane pulled from Dawn’s hair was just an extension but it looked so real that even director thought it was her hair and asked Elizabeth if she was okay. They were really wrestling and everyone had a lot of fun.
The party scene was the second one that they shot and it was so much fun. Everyone was acting like they were wasted and Elizabeth had so much fun yelling and swearing at them. The godfather scene took a long time to film because everyone just kept laughing. The cast was improvising a lot so it was a lot of fun, as well.
They loved working with all the cast members who were funny, professional and very friendly and welcoming to them as newcomers, especially Mia, Rose, who had the most infectious laugh, Pam Grier, Kate and Jennifer. They made them feel like part of the family and all were down to earth.
