Chapter 2 – Philadelphia – Day 1
On Wednesday, October 3rd, Bette and Tina were scheduled to fly to Philadelphia. The night before, the family had their usual dinner. Bette and Tina were discussing the arrangements. They were staying at the Four Seasons Hotel.
Margaret: Not the Four Seasons Garden Center? You didn’t make the same mistake that Rudy Giuliani and the Republican Party made, did you? Book the wrong place?
Tina: It’s my understanding they actually booked that place on purpose. Strange as it was.
Bette: We are definitely at the Four Seasons Hotel. We leave tomorrow afternoon and we will be back Sunday afternoon. Now Daniel, you will be here with Margaret for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning. Sonny and Kit will pick you up on Friday afternoon and return you home on Sunday. You mind your manners and help out where you can. What you guys do is up to you. Just obey all the adults as you would us. And we are available by phone. Or you can call Sonny and Kit. And if they are not available, call Paris and Jeanette.
Tina: Housekeeping will be in on Friday. Make sure your room is picked up when you leave for school. Margaret, if you have time, if you and Daniel try and keep the laundry under control. Margaret, you have our itinerary. Call us if you need anything. We will get groceries in on Sunday.
Margaret: You girls have fun. We will be fine. We are just going to do our normal routine. I’ll cook for us on Thursday night. And Friday. I am anxious to meet your sister, Bette. She sounds like an interesting person.
Bette: Daniel, make sure you transfer enough money into your school lunch card before Monday. Remember, breakfast, lunch and a snack. Your allowance should be in your account as of Friday. And if you need more money over the weekend, please text me the moment you know that. And I will transfer some extra into your account.
Daniel: I think I am fine. I could take some out of my saving if I need to. I think you guys have good timing. John David and Joey are going to spend the weekend with their grandmother. His parents are going away for the weekend.
