    Chapter 12

    A week later, New York, Bette’s apartment. Bette and Shane are sitting at the kitchen bench having a beer.

    (Shane) So?

    Bette smiles at her. Shane examines her for a moment and then gives a small laugh.

    (Shane) You found her?

    (Bette smiles) I did

    Shane nods, and Bette smiles and shrugs.

    (Bette) And we’re meeting again in Siena at the end of next month

    Shane raises her eyebrows and smiles.

    (Shane) Wow, OK

    Bette walks over to the fridge and retrieves two more bottles.

    (Shane) And did she target you?

    Bette shakes her head as she sits back down at the bench and opens the bottles.

    (Bette) No, she had no idea who I was. She then found out about my past, and so got in first and robbed me

    Shane raises her eyebrows as Bette hands her a beer.

    (Shane) How did she find out?

    (Bette) I robbed a friend of hers, years ago, and the friend saw us together on our last night. She thought I was going to do the same to her and so she got in first

    Bette shrugs and has a sip of beer, and Shane nods uncertainly at her. Bette places her bottle back on the bench and furrows her brow.

    (Bette) What?

    Shane smiles and shrugs.

    (Shane) I don’t know, that’s a pretty complicated start to something, isn’t it?

    Bette looks at her and Shane smiles and holds up her hands.

    (Shane) I’m just saying

    Shane has a sip of beer, and Bette smiles.

    (Bette) Yes, it’s complicated. But she’s coming around to trusting me I think

    Shane furrows her brow.

    (Shane) Yeah?

    (Bette) Well, she agreed to meet me again. But I don’t think she’s entirely convinced I wasn’t planning to rob her last year, or that I’m not still planning something now

    (Shane) And how are you with trusting her? After she, you know, did rob you

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) I believe what she told me. That what she did was a reaction to what she learned about me. And that she only learned that at the very end of our time together

    Shane nods and looks to her beer, tapping her fingers on the bottle and thinking for a moment. She looks back to Bette.

    1. Hummm…. so Bette is going to have Dana look for Tina. What is Shane’s role in this? Not sure why Bette wanted her in on the conversation as she appears to really not to be tracking what is going on.

      The one thing that Bette knows is that Tina’s good friend is Helena Peabody. After all Bette robbed Helena at some point in the past. The probability is that Tina and Helena are linked in some form or fashion. So finding out who Tina is will surely be through Helena…. maybe? So if you can find Helena and track her travels and activities, you might be able to find Tina.

    2. Hmm, it looks like there are going to be surprises with what Dana discovers. Maybe Tina will result from the competition.It’s funny that Bette and Tina didn’t even exchange names this time. It’s getting very, very interesting.

      What type of thief is she exactly?
      Hasn’t put together it was Helena she robbed or has she?
      Will the thief be there in August?
