    Chapter 12

    (Shane) You’re sure you want to pursue this?

    Bette raises her eyebrows and smiles.

    (Bette) Yes, I am

    Shane nods as she examines her for a moment, and then shrugs.

    (Shane) OK

    She has a sip of her beer.

    (Shane) Do you know much more about her?

    Bette shakes her head.

    (Bette) No, not really. She spoke a bit more openly I guess, and admitted to being a thief. But I still don’t know who she is, or any detail of what she does

    Shane nods.

    (Shane) Does that bother you?

    Bette picks up her drink, considering this for a moment.

    (Bette) I’d like to know. Not who she is, I’d never work that out. But what she’s up to

    Bette has a sip of beer, and Shane nods.

    (Shane) Well, do you have any chance of figuring it out do you think? With what you know now?

    (Bette sighs) No

    Shane nods and has a sip of beer. She looks back to Bette and shrugs.

    (Shane) Well, if she really is coming around to trusting you, maybe she’ll tell you

    Bette smiles and shakes her head.

    (Bette) No, she’ll never tell me


    A month later, Shane’s birthday. Bette, Alice, Shane and Dana are sitting at a tucked away table in a bar with a band setting up on the stage nearby. Bette has a sip of her drink and glances around the room.

    (Bette) Is anyone else coming tonight?

    Alice looks over at her.

    (Alice) Like who?

    (Bette) I don’t know, no one’s bringing a date?

    The others all shake their heads, and Alice looks back to her.

    (Alice) You’re wondering if we can call you ”Bette” for the night?

    (Bette shrugs) I kind of like it when we can do that, when it’s just the four of us

    Alice looks around the room and nods.

    (Alice) Yeah I think it’s fine, it’s not that busy. Let’s turn it off if we start talking to anyone else

    They all nod and take a sip of their drinks and focus on the stage as the music starts up. They watch in silence for a while, and Alice glances over at Bette.

    (Alice) Oh I got your message. You’re going away again?

    1. Hummm…. so Bette is going to have Dana look for Tina. What is Shane’s role in this? Not sure why Bette wanted her in on the conversation as she appears to really not to be tracking what is going on.

      The one thing that Bette knows is that Tina’s good friend is Helena Peabody. After all Bette robbed Helena at some point in the past. The probability is that Tina and Helena are linked in some form or fashion. So finding out who Tina is will surely be through Helena…. maybe? So if you can find Helena and track her travels and activities, you might be able to find Tina.

    2. Hmm, it looks like there are going to be surprises with what Dana discovers. Maybe Tina will result from the competition.It’s funny that Bette and Tina didn’t even exchange names this time. It’s getting very, very interesting.

      What type of thief is she exactly?
      Hasn’t put together it was Helena she robbed or has she?
      Will the thief be there in August?

    4. So interested in this story, please don’t abandon it. We need to see where this thief attraction is going to lead Bette and Tina. What connections do Tina and Helena have…is Helena the master thief. Will Bette and Tina continue to see each other. I do appreciate Tina returning Bette’s watch and jewelry.
