Bette takes hold of her shoulders and leads her down the hallway, and then points her in the direction of one of the armchairs.

(Bette) Sit

Shane makes her way to the armchair, and Bette turns to Dana.

(Bette) I need your help with something Dane

Dana raises her eyebrows and looks at her.

(Dana) OK

Bette holds her gaze for a moment before speaking.

(Bette) I want to find a thief. To identify her crimes from what I know about her, which admittedly is very little

Dana furrows her brow.

(Dana) OK, how little?

Having finally made her way across the room, Shane collapses into the armchair and leans her head back and closes her eyes.

(Shane) She likes gardening and lotus flowers and independent film festivals

Dana raises her eyebrows and looks between them, and Bette glances at Shane and rolls her eyes before focusing back on Dana.

(Bette) She hasn’t been to the US in a long time, so she’s been working somewhere else. Maybe in Europe. And she doesn’t steal from individuals

(Dana frowns) Corporations then?

(Bette shrugs) I don’t know

Dana reaches across the bench for Bette’s laptop. She looks to Bette as she settles at the bench and opens it.

(Dana) This is the woman who robbed you on Santorini?

Bette looks at her for a moment and then nods.

(Bette) Yes

Dana nods as she takes her in for a moment, and then looks back to the laptop.

(Dana) Why isn’t Alice here for this?

Shane and Bette both look to her with raised eyebrows. Dana focuses back on the laptop.

(Dana) Yeah OK

Dana continues typing for a moment and then looks to Bette.

(Dana) OK, tell me what else you know

Bette paces around the room as she talks.

(Bette) She’s extremely secretive, and very protective about her identity. I think it might be big, whatever she’s up to

(Dana) I guess not individuals might mean museums? Galleries?

(Bette shrugs) Maybe

Dana nods and continues to take notes.

(Bette) She also says she never stays still, so she probably works across a number of countries

Dana nods as she types, and Bette sighs.

(Bette) But I don’t know much else

Dana raises her eyebrows and looks to her. She then nods.

(Dana) OK, I can do some research. Put together a shortlist of crimes that might fit, and you can see if anything jumps out to you

(Bette nods) OK, thank you

Dana forwards her notes to herself and then closes the laptop. She picks up her bag from the bench and looks to Bette.

(Dana) Is there anything else you can think of? Anything that might be helpful in narrowing it down?

(Shane) She’s sort of scared of bears

Shane’s eyes remain closed and she smiles to herself, and Bette watches her and frowns.

(Bette) Was it a mistake asking you to be here for this?

Shane opens her eyes and looks to her. She raises her eyebrows and nods.

(Shane) Ah yeah, that’s what I’ve been saying

Bette narrows her eyes at her and Shane gives a small laugh and holds up her hands.

(Shane) OK, you know I’m on board. Sorry

Shane leans her head back again and closes her eyes, and Bette looks back to Dana.

(Bette) She’s not, I don’t think. I brought up bears

Dana nods uncertainly. Shane gives a small laugh, and Bette leans over and hits her arm with the back of her hand.

Bette and Dana walk back down the hallway together to the front door. They both turn and look towards the living area when they hear a loud thud.

(Shane) Shit, sorry!

Bette and Dana meet eyes and smile. Bette opens the door for her and they pause and look to one another.

(Dana) Look it’s obviously not a lot to go on, but I’ll see what I can do. And let me know if you think of anything else that might help

Bette nods.

(Bette) Thanks Dane, I appreciate it. I’m not really expecting you to work this out, but I know if anyone can, you can

They smile at each other as Dana walks through the door and Bette closes it behind her.
