Against All Odds – Chapter 17

Amy did her best to carry Tina out of the dungeon, hiding from any guards that passed by them. Tina’s body was shaky, it was weak from all it had endured but still the Princess continued to press on. She had a determination to her like nothing Amy had seen before.

"Wh . . why are you helping me?"

Amy turned her head and looked at the injured Princess as she guided her up the old staircase. She thought about how to answer. Initially she had other reasons such as spiting Jodi and teaching her lover a lesson. But as she made her way to Tina’s cell, the same question ran through her mind and the same answer soon followed.

"It was wrong to keep you in there"

Tina simply looked at Amy, maybe trying to read her but it didn’t matter. Amy just turned her head away and focused back on the task at hand.

They walked in silence for several seconds, getting to the top of their staircase and walking down a narrow hallway leading to yet another staircase. Amy sighed, breaking the silence.

"She’s not all bad you know"

Tina turned her head to look at Amy but didn’t say anything, she let Amy continue.

    "She’s just really misunderstood"

Tina couldn’t stop a scoff from escaping, "Misunderstood?"

Amy tossed Tina an angry yet very sad glance. Right then Tina knew that Jodi must have sugar coated her actions to look differently in Amy’s eyes. Tina hated that she had to be the one to break the news to the fragile woman but it had to be done.

"Look Amy . . sometimes things aren’t what they seem . . sometimes people are more than what they show you"

"She’s changed" Was all Amy said.

Tina raised an eyebrow, "Do you really believe that?"

Amy and Tina reached the top of the staircase and used caution as they entered an area of the fortress. There was a faint sound of clanging metal coming from the outside, a battle was certainly raging. Amy guided Tina through the service hallways of the fortress, trying to avoid any unnecessary run ins with Jodi’s guards.

    1. This is going to be tense… I hope Tina is able to relay whatever it is that will help defeat Jodi. And that whatever Kit gave Shane to help in fighting Dana works. Can’t wait for the finale! Thank you :)
