She zoned out for who knows how long. Could have been 10 seconds, 10 minutes, an hour? She heard someone yell “Parker, stop! Hey heads up” and before she could open her eyes, something jumped on her licking her face. She let a very low yell (due to her crying, her voice was a little off). She opened her eyes to this little dog licking her face, licking her tear away. She couldn’t help letting a smile sneak out.
Two girls came running over…
Maddie
Parker, down. Parker, sit. Bad girl. Don’t run away like that. She grabs the leash which is still attached to the pup’s collar. I am so sorry. She got away from me
Claire
It’s okay. No harm done. She wipes her eyes again.
Megan
Did she hurt you, at all? I hope she didn’t upset you too much
Claire
No no no. I’ve got something else on my mind. But your dog is sweet. Parker right? Claire continues to pet the dog as she tries not to look up at the girls.
Megan
Yeah. That’s our girl. She can’t resist when someone is low to ground and at the perfect height to kiss
Just hearing the word “kiss” almost makes Claire burst into tears.
Claire
Yeah, must be rough being so little. But I got to get going Claire gets up to walk away
Megan
Hey, if you want, you can join us. We are just headed over to the other side of the park for a game of kickball. We are short like 3 players on our team and could use some help
Claire
Thanks but, I should get going.
Maddie
Seriously, we need the help. And, no offense, you look like you could blow off some steam. Unless you have somewhere else to be?
Claire
Claire thought about it for a few seconds. Not really. Where else was she going to go? Certainly not back to Rose’s…as if she knew how to get back anyway. Sure. But I’m terrible at sports
Maddie
So is Megan. She only comes to make sure her boyfriend doesn’t hit on anyone
Megan
That is not true. I like to play. You don’t have to be good to like playing
Maddie
Fine, if you say so. (to Claire) Don’t worry. Its just a pick up game with some folks. I’m Maddie, this is my sister Megan and you have met Parker already

Sorry this is like 2 months late, but I have not been on here since I wrote that due to finishing grad school….6 days to go. But thank you. I haven’t written fanfiction before. Just a big fan of the show and I don’t think they get into claire’s character enough. Thanks for your feedback!

I really like your story! I really hope you write more about Claire and Maddie’s friendship in the future! Maybe you can continue this story? Anyway you’re a really good writer and I really liked the interaction between Claire and Maddie.
Thank you! Claire is an awesome character and I think she has more to say then she has been able to. I think she needed a good role model to have a friendship with where there was no chance of romance. Sometimes thats just what you need. I hope to write more once grad school finishes this month. Thanks for reading! (PS, grad school is why I have not responded until now).
I totally agree! I really like Claire and sometimes I’m sad that they don’t give her more storyline. I think they could do so much more with her character! And I totally relate with having a good role model to have as a friendship and nothing more. Good luck on grad school! I totally understand, I’m also busy with school right now! Anyway I think you did a great job on this one!
