    Claire
    No, its fine. I’m just in the middle of something and you reminded me of it.

    Maddie
    What’s going on? I mean, if you want to talk about it, I can be an in-partial third party listener.

    Claire
    I don’t really want to. Takes a deep breath. So kickball…that’s like baseball right?

    Maddie
    Yeah, just no bat…..

    They continue their conversation as they walk until they get to the group who already seem to be playing.

    Aiden
    Sorry ladies, we are full.

    Megan
    Full? But you were short an hour ago.

    Aiden
    Found some people to join. Now we are even. Sorry.

    Maddie
    Seriously Aiden? You couldn’t of let us know before we got here.

    Aiden
    Hey, not my problem. But we could use a cheering squad.

    Megan
    Alright

    Maddie
    No thanks. Not really my ideal day of cheering on the sidelines watching a group of guys. I’ll pass. Meg, see you at home?

    Megan
    Yeah, you want Parker?

    Maddie
    Naw, you take her. She needs to be out for a bit.
    I’m sorry, Claire.

    Claire
    It’s alright.

    Maddie
    Well, I got to walk back past the pond anyway. Up for some frogging?

    Claire
    Why not, sounds fun. Nice to meet you Megan. See ya around, Parker.
    They begin to walk back to the pond. A little quieter than before.

    Maddie
    So, you live around here?

    Claire
    Not really. Actually, I have no idea where I am.

    Maddie
    (Semi-laughing) Well then you are going to need either directions or a ride home. How did you end up here?

    Claire
    I was at my…..I was at a birthday party nearby and needed to get away. Ended up here.

    Maddie
    The drama of parties. I’m sorry. I can give ya a ride if you need it or give directions to someone to pick you up.

    Claire
    Yeah, thanks. Claire doesn’t even want to think about seeing anyone from the party right now. So….frogging? Isn’t that bad for the frogs?

    Maddie
    Yes and no. You have to be gentle and make sure you have no lotions or anything on your hands. But, if you do that, they are fine.

    Claire
    Alright. I can maybe do that.

    Maddie
    I’ll show ya. No big deal.
    (pause)
    Where do you go to school?

      • Sorry this is like 2 months late, but I have not been on here since I wrote that due to finishing grad school….6 days to go. But thank you. I haven’t written fanfiction before. Just a big fan of the show and I don’t think they get into claire’s character enough. Thanks for your feedback!

    3. I really like your story! I really hope you write more about Claire and Maddie’s friendship in the future! Maybe you can continue this story? Anyway you’re a really good writer and I really liked the interaction between Claire and Maddie.

      • Thank you! Claire is an awesome character and I think she has more to say then she has been able to. I think she needed a good role model to have a friendship with where there was no chance of romance. Sometimes thats just what you need. I hope to write more once grad school finishes this month. Thanks for reading! (PS, grad school is why I have not responded until now).

        • I totally agree! I really like Claire and sometimes I’m sad that they don’t give her more storyline. I think they could do so much more with her character! And I totally relate with having a good role model to have as a friendship and nothing more. Good luck on grad school! I totally understand, I’m also busy with school right now! Anyway I think you did a great job on this one!
