    A Different L: Episode 8 Part 2

Alex: This better not be for a scoop or some exclusive to your show.

On the other end of the call is Trish, relaxing in her own apartment.

Trish: I’m just calling to see how you were.

    Alex: Tired. Really tired.

Trish: All that paperwork and typing…

    Alex: Something like that.

    Trish: Mm-hm.

Alex: So what’s up with you?

Trish: I’m tired, too. Ran into an old fan from my younger years. He had one of the comics, all sealed up.

Alex: Those things are collector’s items.

Trish: I signed it. He was disappointed that I signed it as Trish instead of the other name.

    Alex laughs momentarily.

Alex: It’s hard to sing the theme with “Trish” instead of… the other name.

The other name was Patsy. It was Trish’s childhood name and her mother’s idea for marketing. Trish hates the name “Patsy.”

Trish: I just wanted to be able to reach out to someone who just likes me as Trish. I’m not even bothering Jessica these days. She’s pretty much wrapped up in Felicity Smoak now.

Alex: Yeah, it’s kind of the same with Kara and Daisy, though we still have movie night. Why don’t you and Jessica ever try movie night?

Trish: Our relationship isn’t quite at the level yours is. If Mom had been more like Missus Danvers, maybe things would be different.

Alex: It’s not always easy, Trish. But you’re always there for your sister and no one can ever deny that.

Trish: Yeah, but being around her and Felicity makes me feel like a third wheel.

Alex: Ha. I know the feeling.

There is a pause over the phone momentarily.

Alex: Maybe you and I can do something sometime.

    Trish smiles.

    Trish: Just us?

Alex: Just us. I think it would be good for us.

    Trish: I think you’re right.

The smiles are mutual between though neither can see the other. At CatCo, it is yet another long end to the day for Cat Grant. She knows the news. She knows they are out there. She has done her best to keep her employees including her assistant, Kara at bay. She does not want them caught up. She has openly appealed to James to let Supergirl know not to be around her so she does not wind up in a trap, in case she is used as bait.

The monitors on her back wall in the office come alive, all forming one giant picture as Cat looks away from her office balcony. She sees Livewire smiling.

Livewire: Hi, Cat. Miss me? Because I’ve missed you. And I’m not the only one.

Cat marches to her desk, facing the monitors with her arms crossed in defiance.

Cat: Listen. Whatever you and Smythe have in mind, just get it done already. Without those powers, both of you continue to run a high risk of bland overtones that bore me to pieces.

Livewire: Maybe what I’m about to show you won’t be so boring.

An image of Adam, Cat’s son appears on the screen.

Livewire: Your rooftop. Tomorrow night. No Supergirl. No other supers. Just you, me, and Silver Banshee. So you can finally pay for all you’ve done wrong, especially to us! Otherwise, your precious son, Adam? My friend can concentrate real hard to see if she can make his head explode.

Cat: Don’t you dare lay a finger on my son.

Livewire: It won’t be a finger. But it’ll be loud. Tomorrow night. No one else.

    Cat: What time?

Livewire: Don’t worry about time. Just be there.

The screens all static before blanking out.
