    ”What?! Overdramatic much?”

”At the time, I didn’t know if she was just saying that to get a rise out of me or if she was serious, but I wasn’t going to let her out of my sight just in case.”

”Bette, she was playing you. That’s so manipulative.”

”I know, T, but at the time, when someone threatens to kill themselves over you, you panic. I told her I was going to fight for our relationship because I really do love and care about her.”

”Whoa, Bette, don’t you think you were giving her mixed signals?”

”No, I know I gave her mixed signals because it wasn’t until we went to school that she reminded me that I had said that and I clarified to her that I meant our friendship.”

Tina sighed and shook her head.

”Tina, I’m sorry, I know it sounds like I did a terrible job breaking up with her.”

    ”Terrible? Try shitty.”

Bette stayed quiet as she heaved a big sigh and gazed at the small ripples of the pool. She knew Tina was right, but she also knew she handled the situation to the best of her ability.

”Bette,” Tina reached over and took her lover’s wine glass from her hand and set it on the small side table with her own. She scooted closer to Bette and took her face in both of her hands. ”I know this is pretty overwhelming. I know we still have to work out our shit. But we really need to figure things out between us. If it’s really over with Jodi – ”

”It is so over, T,” Bette interrupted.

”Okay.” Tina nodded, so that Bette knew she understood. ”I want to be with you. I want nothing more in the world then to get our family back together and live the life we’ve always dreamed we would. But I’m really scared too.”

”I’m scared too, Tina. But I want this with you more than anything. You and I never really finished, and I think…I think that we’re hesitant because we know how badly we can devastate one another. It’s going to take time for us to rebuild what we had. I know you still have trust issues where I’m concerned.”

    1. What a wonderful take on that hot mess called Jodi Lerner and Bette Porter. I thought I was the only one that couldn’t stand that IC contrived character called Jodi Lerner. No way, IMO, that Bette would hookup w/Jodi, b/c Jodi wasn’t physically Bette’s type. Too frumpy and matronly. Marlee lost a bunch of weight and toned up on DWTS and seemed more of Bette’s type then. Sorry to be so shallow but it is Hollywood fiction. ;-)

      • Hi AZ!! So good to see you again! I tend to agree with you that the Jodi-Bette ‘ship was awkward, but probably for different reasons. The physical didn’t bother me as much as the personality clash. They didn’t start off on the right foot in the very beginning so it was doomed to end bad. Remember Helena’s old adage, what begins in chaos, ends in chaos. It’s like Bette smoked a little pot and was still high throughout their relationship. All bad. Thanks for reading and coming out to comment! Hugs!!

      • Great job, enjoyed it very much. And, by all means, please give us more of this vignette and any others you think we readers would enjoy. Thanks much for posting.

        • Thank you, Dainty! Nice to see you comment again! As far as this story goes, I could absolutely write a different one but I’m not sure i could actually continue it. There are a couple other scenes I think I’d like to tackle and develop. Stand by!

      • Thank you, cellphone! I’ve got a few irons in the fire as far as ideas go. It’s just a matter of finding time to sit and bang ’em out. I will do my best!

    2. Loved the way you filled a gap
      the series left open.
That’s why I always say, I’m glad that writers like
you fix what the series left to be desired.
      Continue to fill these gaps.
      I await new chapter.
      10 Stars.
