    511 and a Half

”Yeah. Let’s open a bottle of wine and sit in the backyard first.”

Once the red wine had been aerated and Angie was cozied up on the couch watching a movie with a couple of stuffed animals, Bette and Tina took off their shoes and got comfortable on the cabana by the pool.

”We came back here and I just couldn’t face her. I walked into the kitchen and just started crying. She screamed at me that I didn’t have a right to be acting like she broke my heart. She asked me if you and I were fucking and I explained to her that it wasn’t about fucking between you and me. It was pretty brutal. I was doing everything I could to spare her feelings by trying to explain that I could never have with her what I have with you.”

Bette paused a moment and took a sip of her wine, eyes brimming with tears for the second time that day. Tina reached over and rubbed her leg to encourage her to continue as she sipped from her own glass.

”We sat in the living room and she just fell apart telling me that she loved me and only me and that she was fine before she met me. I made the mistake of trying to physically console her by putting my arm around her and she took that to mean I wanted to, you know. She got aggressive and kissed me hard. Somehow I ended up on the floor and she straddled me, pulled my shirt off and just kept at it. The phone rang and when I looked over at it to check the caller ID and she grabbed the phone and slammed it back in its cradle. I’ve never seen her act like that; so wild and desperate.”

”Did she hurt you?” Tina asked, her anger boiling as she listened to Bette recount what happened.

”No. But after she slammed the phone down, I had to physically restrain her hands and yell for her to stop.”

”Not that she could hear you,” Tina quipped.

    ”Easy, tiger.”

”Sorry, that was mean. Please continue.”

”I told her that I didn’t want to do this with her and that it wasn’t right. She leapt up off of me and said she was going to kill herself – ”

    1. What a wonderful take on that hot mess called Jodi Lerner and Bette Porter. I thought I was the only one that couldn’t stand that IC contrived character called Jodi Lerner. No way, IMO, that Bette would hookup w/Jodi, b/c Jodi wasn’t physically Bette’s type. Too frumpy and matronly. Marlee lost a bunch of weight and toned up on DWTS and seemed more of Bette’s type then. Sorry to be so shallow but it is Hollywood fiction. ;-)

      • Hi AZ!! So good to see you again! I tend to agree with you that the Jodi-Bette ‘ship was awkward, but probably for different reasons. The physical didn’t bother me as much as the personality clash. They didn’t start off on the right foot in the very beginning so it was doomed to end bad. Remember Helena’s old adage, what begins in chaos, ends in chaos. It’s like Bette smoked a little pot and was still high throughout their relationship. All bad. Thanks for reading and coming out to comment! Hugs!!

      • Great job, enjoyed it very much. And, by all means, please give us more of this vignette and any others you think we readers would enjoy. Thanks much for posting.

        • Thank you, Dainty! Nice to see you comment again! As far as this story goes, I could absolutely write a different one but I’m not sure i could actually continue it. There are a couple other scenes I think I’d like to tackle and develop. Stand by!

      • Thank you, cellphone! I’ve got a few irons in the fire as far as ideas go. It’s just a matter of finding time to sit and bang ’em out. I will do my best!

    2. Loved the way you filled a gap
      the series left open.
That’s why I always say, I’m glad that writers like
you fix what the series left to be desired.
      Continue to fill these gaps.
      I await new chapter.
      10 Stars.
