    511 and a Half

Tina smiled at the question. ”I suppose I could. Have anyone in mind you could set me up with?”

”I may,” Bette responded with a chuckle. ”I wish I could take a date to Jodi’s art installation on Friday night.”

”That wouldn’t be a very good idea.”

”No, I know,” Bette stabbed at the food on her plate, pushing it around more than actually eating it.

”So, you want to tell me how it went with her today?” Tina coaxed.

Bette looked up at Angie before her eyes fell on Tina. ”Maybe a little later.”

”Okay,” Tina agreed, her anxiety still bubbling just below the surface.

Once they were finished with dinner, Angelica sat at the coffee table working on some coloring while her mommies cleaned up the kitchen. It was like old hat the way they glided about the kitchen, a tender touch or feathery kiss each time they passed by one another.

”Do you think Kit would want to come with us to the wrap party?” Tina asked as she loaded the dishwasher. ”I know she needs a night out to get her mind off those two crazy bitches.”

”That’s a great idea, T,” Bette said as she was wiping up the table. She took the few steps to the sink and planted a soft kiss on Tina’s cheek. ”You’re so thoughtful, baby.”

”By the way, where’d you get that watch? It’s pretty fancy.” Tina asked motioning to the glass top table in the foyer.

Bette turned to look at the watch and creased her brow remembering the parting gift Jodi left. ”Jodi said it was supposed to be my birthday present.” Bette sighed.

”Wow. Are you going to keep it?”

”I don’t know. It wouldn’t feel right if I did. But I’m not sure if I should give it back. What do you think?”

”Gosh, Bette, I’m the wrong person to ask. She could’ve kept it, but maybe it would be too painful for her. Is she the type to get offended easily if you tried to give it back?”

”I think she’ll be offended no matter what I decide to do,” Bette sighed again and leaned against the counter as Tina set the dishwasher.

”You ready to tell me what happened?”

    1. What a wonderful take on that hot mess called Jodi Lerner and Bette Porter. I thought I was the only one that couldn’t stand that IC contrived character called Jodi Lerner. No way, IMO, that Bette would hookup w/Jodi, b/c Jodi wasn’t physically Bette’s type. Too frumpy and matronly. Marlee lost a bunch of weight and toned up on DWTS and seemed more of Bette’s type then. Sorry to be so shallow but it is Hollywood fiction. ;-)

      • Hi AZ!! So good to see you again! I tend to agree with you that the Jodi-Bette ‘ship was awkward, but probably for different reasons. The physical didn’t bother me as much as the personality clash. They didn’t start off on the right foot in the very beginning so it was doomed to end bad. Remember Helena’s old adage, what begins in chaos, ends in chaos. It’s like Bette smoked a little pot and was still high throughout their relationship. All bad. Thanks for reading and coming out to comment! Hugs!!

      • Great job, enjoyed it very much. And, by all means, please give us more of this vignette and any others you think we readers would enjoy. Thanks much for posting.

        • Thank you, Dainty! Nice to see you comment again! As far as this story goes, I could absolutely write a different one but I’m not sure i could actually continue it. There are a couple other scenes I think I’d like to tackle and develop. Stand by!

      • Thank you, cellphone! I’ve got a few irons in the fire as far as ideas go. It’s just a matter of finding time to sit and bang ’em out. I will do my best!

    2. Loved the way you filled a gap
      the series left open.
That’s why I always say, I’m glad that writers like
you fix what the series left to be desired.
      Continue to fill these gaps.
      I await new chapter.
      10 Stars.
