The blonde grins. Tina – Then you’d better only have smiles for me! She rolls on top of her girlfriend again.

    Bette smiles sensually.

    The blonde grins.

    Tina – Then you’d better only have smiles for me!

    She rolls on top of her girlfriend again. Bette laughs delighted.

     

    Chapter 20  Baby Steps

    LAX, afternoon: Tina is in a coffee shop with her parents waiting for their flight departure.

    Mrs. Kennard – You look tired, honey.

    Tina – I didn’t get much sleep last night, Mom.

    Mrs. Kennard – Are you still upset over that discussion?

    Her daughter frowns in question.

    Mr. Kennard – About your friend Bette.

    The producer sighs and looks thoughtful.

    Tina – I can’t lie. I am disappointed in your reaction.

    Mr. Kennard – We want what is best for you, honey.

    Tina – The best for me is for you to accept my friends without judgment, Dad.

    Mr. Kennard – We don’t have a problem with you befriending Bette. Your mother just said that people might think that you are a lesbian too.

    Tina looks upset.

    Tina – And would that be the end of the world, Dad? Think about it. Here is this accomplished, intelligent and beautiful woman who happens to be a lesbian. That does not take away from who she is. And whom she sleeps with shouldn’t be anyone’s business.

    Her parents are taken aback by her assertiveness.

    Mrs. Kennard – We didn’t know that she was that important to you, honey.

    The producer looks self-conscious.

    Tina – My friends are important to me, Mom.

    Mr. Kennard – If she is your friend, she is our friend too.

    His daughter’s face relaxes. She smiles at him.  

    Mrs. Kennard – As long as she doesn’t bring a girlfriend to meet us.

    Tina presses her lips together. Her father watches her with a frown and her mom checks the time.

    Mrs. Kennard – I think we should go to the gate.

    They stand up and walk over to the gate entrance. 

    She hugs and kisses her daughter.

    Mrs. Kennard – Bye, hon! We will call when we get home.

    Tina – Bye, Mom!  Have a good trip.

    She turns to her father, and hugs and kisses him.

    Tina – Bye, Dad!

    Mr. Kennard – Bye, honey!

    3. Loving this….Tina is so smitten. Bette seams to be allowing Tina to set the tempo for the relationship. Two nights in a row in Bette’s bed after a month of pursuit. Nice…. Bette has been amazingly patient. Tina’s parents being in North Carolina, it could take several months before they are told about Tina’s new relationship.

      Keep the chapters coming…. great story so far.

      It seems Mr. Kennard already figured out that his daughter likes Bette more than alone as friend. Glad to hear him say to Tina that she will always be his daughter.

      It is important that Tina takes the time and Bette let her, to come out to her friends and parents.

      I love this story!

    5. Thanks for posting! I love your version of T + B’s beginning but I’m still anxious about Tina’s parents and their reaction to their daughter being in a relationship with a woman..

      Can’t wait for the next part.
