Against All Odds – Chapter 9

"She doesn’t? She’s a part of this army, my property and I just caught her escaping. I’d say she has everything to do with this"

Bette raised her chin and tried to show Jodi that she wasn’t afraid, "If you let her go . . I’ll submit to you willingly"

    "Bette no" Dana pleaded.

Jodi looked at Bette with intrigue, "Willingly you say?"

    Bette nodded.

Jodi seemed to think about it for a few seconds before a crooked smile formed on her harsh face, "Now why would I do that? I have more fun when you resist me"

    Bette swallowed but didn’t move.

    "You sick and twisted bitch"

Dana had stepped out from behind Bette, standing beside her friend. The fear in Dana was obvious but she would stand up for her friend no matter what. Jodi laughed again.

"And here I thought you had no fight in you, little Dana. Maybe I can whip you into shape so you can be as ruthless as my pet here"

Bette glanced over at the edge of the tower, they were near. Maybe a step or two and they could jump. Bette leaned closer to Dana and whispered low.

    "Dane, we gotta jump"

Dana nodded, the adrenaline masking her fear as she stared Jodi down. The witch had an army behind her but it didn’t matter. Before they could take a step toward the edge, Bette felt her body tense up. Jodi had recently absorbed some powers to control body movement but being new to the magic, Jodi wasn’t very good at it yet so Bette was able to fight it. Sometimes she won, sometimes she wasn’t so lucky. Today she would win, guaranteed.

    "G-gotta hu . . hurry"

Dana nodded and stepped on the ledge, holding onto Bette’s arm and hoisted her up. The Gooru behind Jodi took a step to grab the women before they could jump but Jodi held out her hands to stop them. Bette nearly smiled. She knew that Jodi wouldn’t let harm come to her. Jodi could torture Bette and brand her but she wouldn’t allow her soldiers to hurt her. The witch was twisted that way.
