Against All Odds – Chapter 9

Jodi pursed her lips as she tried to control Bette’s body movements, "Come off the ledge, pet"

Bette used all her strength to push her body to the limit. She felt the burn in her legs as she forced them to move, taking a step closer to the Dana. She knew that a flag was too weak to hold both bodies and Bette might lose control of her body while holding onto the flag. She didn’t want to take that chance.

    "Off the ledge. Now"

When Jodi realized that Bette still had mobility of her body, she started to grow angry. She took a step toward Bette and Dana, telling her soldiers to stand back. She forced more of her energy into controlling Bette, veins were beginning to show on her forehead.

Dana tugged Bette’s arm, "We have to go, come on"

    "Bette, don’t you dare!"

It had been months since Jodi had called Bette by her name, she was beyond livid. Bette felt exhaustion creep up on her, she knew it was now or never. They had to jump.

Dana tugged on Bette’s arm so they could jump but the brunette didn’t move. She glanced over at Bette and noticed her friend was completely stiff and there was panic in her eyes. Bette had spoken to her and Shane about Jodi’s ability to control bodies so Dana knew that Jodi had to have taken over.

Dana glanced over the edge and saw a large moat filled with dirty water below then back to Jodi. The witch was approaching with the Gooru. Right then Dana knew. Even if she and Bette made it to the water safely, they wouldn’t have time to escape. Bette needed to be carried.

Feeling a shift, Dana looked down and saw Bette raise her foot to step off the ledge. The movement was shaky and Dana knew Bette was fighting it.

"That’s it, pet. Come back to mama"

Dana instantly grabbed onto Bette’s shoulder’s to steady her, her friend’s eyes widening at the look Dana gave her. It was one of sadness and also hope.
