As Good As It Gets – Chapter 4

Tina. The name alone was enough to send a shiver down Bette’s spine. She had been so close to the blonde on more than one occasion that she still felt the fire burning inside her.

How reckless could Bette have been though? She had been willing to throw everything she worked so hard to build away just for the chance to press her lips against Tina’s. There was no doubt about that, Bette wouldn’t even try to deny it. Even as she got ready to leave the studio, Tina’s lips invaded her mind.

Those soft, pink, luscious lips consumed every inch of Bette’s mind. What would it be like to kiss them? Lick them? Every minute that passed, Bette became more and more curious . . and felt even more guilty. Her desires would get her in trouble, cause chaos without a doubt.

One thing was for certain, Bette needed to think with a clear head before she made a mess of things. At the end of the day, Ava was still her girlfriend and Tina had Sam. Bette would never want or even try to come between them.

Her father had always told her it was human nature to pursue your own happiness over someone else’s misery but Bette wouldn’t do it. He certainly lived by that code and though Bette may be her father’s daughter, she wasn’t her father. Bette lived her life believing in Karma and that you got what you deserved. Obviously Bette didn’t deserve better than Ava or she would have gotten better, a price to pay for a past mistake no doubt.

Bette’s cell phone began to ring from somewhere in her purse and the brunette felt her heart skip a beat with the thought of the caller being Tina. She scrambled for the phone but paused for a moment before answering the call, not wanting to seem so desperate. With her eyes closed, Bette took a deep breath and answered the phone.

    "Bette Porter"

"Hi" Ava’s calm yet high pitched voice caused a wave of disappointment to rush through Bette. It also created a wave of incredible guilt.

    1. Neither one is married to their GFs so break it off as gently as possible and then see where their relationship can go. It may burn fast and furious and then flame out or it might be the “Eternal Flame”.

    2. Thanks for the posting… Wow! I wish that relationships didn’t get into the desperation phase when their time of completion was over.I know that letting go is hard but when the relationship has come to its end being miserable is truly not the way to go. Holding on to something that isn’t there is a cruel thing to do to yourself. Life is too short to be so miserable. Let go to Sam, Tina! Let go of Ava, Bette. Its okay to do that as being miserable is not evolving. guess maybe its a fear that everyone will look at us as being failures in a relationship, but honestly that isn’t what the truth of it is. Others come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime… to reflect back to us parts of ourselves… our past, our present or a possible future.

    3. Oh, WOW!!! This will be the forever kind of love with these two when they finally get together. Please let them both know somehow that their girlfriends are having affairs and they don’t have to be feeling guilty to break off their respective relationships. They are so right for each other. Awesome chapter. Thanks.

    4. loving it! I just think if Tina is so eager to get Bette to realize that Tina’s is better for her than Ava then Tina should not seem guilty about Sam, I mean she shouldn’t seem unsure herself. Hope to read more soon Liah! Thanks :D

    5. I hope Bette has now gotten all the encouragement she needs to do the right thing and end it with Ava. Tina has some thinking of her own to do. In the mean time, Helena needs to give up with the pursuit of Tina already. But… if she waits around long enough, she can be there to “console” Ava. They would likely be a perfect match. ;) Thanks for the post, Liah! :)

    6. There is an analogy that I have in mind for Bette and Tina’s situation but words fail me right now. I love where you have taken this story, I feel like you’re trying on something new. You’re doing a great job conveying Bette’s turmoil, and I love that you made Tina intuitive enough to pick up on it. The fact that she had the audacity to bring it up shows immense courage. I’m glad that they’re taking time apart to evaluate their own relationships. Doing the right thing in other words. I have a question for you, do you feel that a story is easier to write if sides are black and white and Bette and Tina’s? They’re both unhappy in their current relationships and should be with each other. Would they have felt the same way about each other if they were happy with their girlfriends? Ok that’s 2 questions but I just love how you weave your stories. You really do love us. Thank you for the awesome post Miss Liah. I hope I don’t offend you with my questions.

    7. Oh this just getting more, and more interesting . I can’t wait to see how each will handle this situation. And how they deal with they feel about each other. What will each decide and will they end up together . Can’t wait post soon
