Tina sighed softly as she realized that Bette had just completely missed what she meant earlier. One step at a time Kennard, she reminded herself as she smiled at the obliviousness of the brunette.
The couple continued walking silently for a few more minutes as they both secretly enjoyed the other’s company.
By now the wind had picked up a little speed and the temperature had also dropped a couple of notches making the night time air a little bit cooler. Tina pulled Bette’s arm closer towards her side trying to stay warm. She stopped them from walking as she felt the brunette slightly shiver beside her.
“Bette you are feeling cold. Let’s wrap this around you.” Tina said as she took the blanket from around her shoulders and wrapped it around Bette’s.
“No..no Tina I am good. I don’t want you to get cold.” Bette tried to protest.
“I am not feeling cold Bette. I want you to have it. Please.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah.”
“Thanks.” Bette said as she pulled the blanket tighter around her.
“You all good?” Tina asked smiling.
“Uhuh.” Bette nodded as Tina snuggled more closely against Bette’s arm.
After a while Tina saw a few big rocks at a distance and gently tugged at Bette’s arm that she was holding onto.
Feeling the tug the brunette looked at the beautiful blonde.
“Come let’s sit down.” Tina requested.
“Sure.” Bette smiled.
They got comfortable against the rocks sitting side by side with Tina snuggled up at Bette’s side.
Bette closed her eyes as she let the feeling of Tina beside her soothe her. She had dreamt of this so many times. After Tina went to the east she never thought she would ever get the opportunity to be with Tina like this.
Bette had regretted not letting Tina know about her feelings for her before she had gone away. But her stubbornness and insecurity had built up such a strong wall around her heart that she wasn’t able to open up her heart to Tina even though she suspected Tina had felt something similar towards her.
