Butterflies in the Stomach

I’m already dreaming and, of course, the dream is all about Tina, not that I have something against it. She is there, smiling at me. My sweet little Miss Kennard. Boy is she everything I’ve ever wanted. I’m all for her to visit my each and every dream if she is going to make me feel this happy.
I jerk awake at some point with no idea how long I was out for. Tina is missing, the TV screen has gone blank, it’s dark outside. I catch the sight of my phone and get the urge to call Tina, which I do right away.
”Hey, sleepyhead,” a soft voice answers, the kind that sends me to heaven where I float on the words.
”Sorry for that…” I reply just as softly, feeling a bit embarrassed. ”You should’ve woken me up.”
”I couldn’t. You looked too damn peaceful.”
We both chuckle.
”You home already?” I ask her.
”Yeah.”
”Got there safe?”
”Uh-huh.”
”Good.”
The line goes silent for a moment as I try to gather my thoughts into some pattern of coherence.
”Tina, I… I really enjoyed spending time with you today. And, well, I know you may still not like me too much, but… I would like to see you again. Sometime soon,” I say, sounding awkward to my own ears.
”I would like that too,” she offers kindly.
”That’s great,” I can barely keep the triumphant delight out of my voice, ”can I call sometime next week?”
”Sure.”
A pause. That extended, too long. I can’t hear her on the other end of the wire, but she most probably can hear my breath.
”I have to go now, so…”
”Oh, of course. I won’t hold you any longer,” I excuse myself. ”Goodbye, Tina.”
”Bye, Bette. Sleep well.”
I press my forehead against the phone and close my eyes, trying to calm the butterflies dancing around in my stomach, but not succeeding. Maybe I just need to go to bed and sleep them off. That’s that. I’m going to to bed. Tomorrow they will be no more. Tomorrow they will be gone.
Tomorrow is a new day and so is every day after tomorrow. With that in mind, the best is yet to come.
Once again I am alive.

Hi Valerie:
That was wonderful chapter; your stories always lift my mood, what a nice and humorous afternoon at Bette’s apartment; that was really hilarious, I love this story; indeed, though being almost the opposite one of the other, I love both of your stories.
I think Bette is lost, she is totally infatuated for Tina, and I think she is going to keep falling more and more for her.
They come from so different worlds and, as when they talked about their hairs, each of them feels attracted to some aspect of the other, I’ll say they may complement each other. I like that Tina is looking at Bette in a friendly way, maybe more than that, she mentioned about her beauty and her body; which lead me to think Tina already ‘checked’ on the brunette.
Careful Bette the best hunter can also be hunted.
What a great chapter, please Valerie, update soon, I’ll be eagerly waiting for the updates of your stories

Great story with good humor. I laughed a lot. It’s a pity there’s no sequel.
