I hear her release a sigh before she meets my gaze again.

”I recall you were saying something about watching a comedy,” Tina smiles, this time the smile is lighthearted and devoid of sadness. ”Let’s do this then.”

Apparently, not trustworthy enough. Fine. I’m not gonna lapse into despair, because everybody knows this is only a matter of time. I’m pretty good in worming my way into people’s favour. Sooner or later she will let me travel through the deepest corners of her heart.

We eventually decide to watch ”Rush Hour” after bickering for about a whole eternity. Guess who won the debate? Yep. You’re right. Tina did. Which is becoming a tendency when we argue.

I don’t mind anyway. I’ve watched ”Rush Hour” when I was little and will definitely enjoy the movie now, especially on my huge HD TV with 5.1 surround sound.

There is something about me though that keeps me from enjoying any movie I ever watch – propensity to fall asleep on it. By my age of 26 I should be knowing this about myself already and somehow try harder to prevent it from happening. But I just can’t. Physically incapable.

Usually it happens in the middle of a movie, but it really depends on several things: on a movie itself (if it’s an action movie, a comedy and most important a good movie, then I’d hold out longer), on a person I’m watching a movie with (if it’s my mother or a boring girlfriend, no way I’m in the state of wakefulness after first 15 minutes), on my mood (if I’m stressed out or feeling particularly sad, then…then watching a movie would be the last thing on my mind and I’d rather prefer falling asleep due to the aftereffects of dry martinis and good sex).

To cut a long story short, it happens all the time and it happens abruptly. Like, for example, this time. I haven’t been feeling sleepy, not in the least! And then BAM! Bette is well on her way to dreamland. Not even the brilliance of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker stops me from conking out completely. Not even watching Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker with Tina prevents my brain from shutting off. I’m that irredeemable.
