Can we get it back – Chapter 19

“I’ll be back in a few hours. I will go by the market for some food after. You need anything?” Tina asks as she put on her jacket.

“No, I’m good.” Bette replies as she also stands up to walk Tina to the door. “Drive safely.” Bette says.

“I will. Bye.” Tina says and leaves.

Bette needed to use the bathroom before she settled in on the couch for a few hours. She felt tired without being tired. The fatigue came in waves. She could feel fine in one moment, and the next the tiredness just hit her so hard. She brought a bottle of water and an apple to the couch for later, so she didn’t have to get up for a while.

Downtown, Tina was just parking her car outside the therapist’s office. She was nervous but confident that this is what she needs to get back to her old self. She walks inside and up one staircase to the firsts floor where the therapist was. She let the reception lady know she was there and took a seat. She was 10 minutes early. She was lost in her thoughts so she didn’t hear they call her name the first time.

“Ms. Kennard?” The reception lady calls out again. This time Tina hear her.

“Oh sorry. Yes.” Tina says as she stands up and walk towards the opened door.

“Hi, I’m Dr. Melissa Garver.”  The therapist says and reach out her hand to Tina.

“Hi, I’m Tina Kennard.” Tina replies. They walk into the office and Dr. Garver motions with her hand for Tina to take a seat on the couch.

“So, Tina, what are you here for?” Dr. Garver asks her straight out.

“I don’t know where to begin.” Tina starts.

“Well, the reason or situation that has gotten you to take the step into therapy might be a good place to start.” Dr. Garver suggests.

“Yeah, I guess so…” Tina says and takes a deep breath. “Well, I’ve been in an on and off again relationship with a woman now for over 20 years. We also share a daughter. She is 16 years old. 10 years ago, we moved from Los Angeles to New York. And a year after we got legally married. But two years ago, we divorced. I left. She is the love of my life and I want to figure out why I left. That was the short story so you have an overview.” Tina says and looks at the therapist to see her reaction, if any.

    1. Tina has tried to state the problem to the therapist…..she is assuming traits in Bette that are not apparent in her behavior. Bette always gives in in fear that she will lose her. That is not the dominating personality, or my priorities are more important that everyone elses or I’m smarter than anyone else or known more than anyone else. So where does this come from? Perhaps we will find out in the near future.

Thanks for this chapter. Love to see more.

    2. I really want to know why Tina feels that way. Yes Bette has a strong personality but did gave Tina the space she needed, especially after they reunited the last time.

It is time that Tina get to the roots of her problems and feelings, otherwise she will always blame or resent Bette for it. She made the first step but has a long way to go.

      Thanks for the update!

    3. My fear is that Tina is doing this because Bette is sick. It seems pretty convenient. Reminds me of when Bette’s father died and Tina came back. I hope she truly does want to be with Bette for the right reasons.
